Well guys'n'gals, we are now officially halfway through 2014, how terrifying is that?! I don't know when time started going so fast but it's a little scary.
I'm keeping the favourites short and sweet this month, there has been no shopping, so nothing new to fall in love with, and to be honest, I've mostly just been loving the products from last months favourites! There were a few things that deserved a mention though, so without further ado, my favourites from June 2014.
The star of the show for me this month was the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Waterproof Mascara, the first waterproof mascara I've ever fallen for. It's got the most bizarre wand I've ever seen, a combination of little balls and spikes, but it just works, and really gets every lash from every angle, coating them in product. The formula itself is infallible, it's jet black, doesn't feel heavy on the lashes, but it lasts all day without smudging or flaking. It does take a decent balm cleanser to remove, but it's totally worth it.
Another product that has really impressed me is the Max Factor Face Finity Primer, one of the most heavy duty, longwearing primers I've tried. Smooths the skin, makes makeup last impossibly long, and feels really lightweight on the skin.
I won the amazing Alexandra's giveaway this month, and amongst the prizes was the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating. A gorgeous matte peach, this adds colour and dimension to my cheeks, sculpting them to just look so much better. This blush lasts so long on the cheeks, and has definitely made me want more Tarte blushes!
Over the last couple of months I've fallen back in love with the YSL Touche Eclat. I've owned one of these for years now, and it really is an awesome product. I've been applying it on top of my under eye concealer to counteract the dark circles, and it really brightens my whole complexion.
I finally picked up the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot setting powder last month, and I've used it pretty much every day since. It's a gorgeous translucent, lightweight setting powder that takes away the shine from your skin, without taking away the glow. It really helps makeup last, and doesn't look cakey at all.
And lastly, a little retraction. I previously included the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge in a disappointing products post. If I'm honest, I stand by what I said in that review, because I still don't know who has the time to use this to apply foundation. However, I've been using this to press my concealer in under my eyes, and blend out cream blush, and I really like it. It definitely gives a more natural look to the skin than you would get with a brush.
What have you been loving this month?
I really want to try the One Heck of a Blot powder, Essiebutton raves about it so much! The Bourjois mascara sounds amazing too. So many people have fallen in love with that Tarte shade. It's new I think, but it looks so beautiful!Tasha // shiwashiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Captivating, it is such a pretty colour! xMaddy from UNSTITCHEDD
ReplyDeleteGreat favourites! I'm loving the look of that Tarte blush. I have three in my collection already but I never noticed this shade before so I may have to order it in my next Sephora haul! xx
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful products you have here! Everytime I go to Ulta in the US the RT sponge is sold out... so I caved and got the Beauty Blender instead! I've heard so many good things about Max Factor Face Finity Primer and Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot powder (both are on my wishlist to grab!). Love Tarte Blushes, they are FANTASTIC. :D<3 Pauline, Addicted to Makeup

ReplyDeleteI need to get the waterproof version of the Bourjois mascara! I have the non-waterproof but it smudges a little xx
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the tarte blushes! They seriously last all day long and have such great colorsAllison from www.mercuteify.com

ReplyDeleteThe waterproof one doesn't budge at all! xx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've been loving the blush!! Its just amazing! I can't find mine at the moment which is pretty sad but hopefully it'll turn up soon! ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing, thank you so much again! I think I'm gonna end up splurging on the foundation soon! I like ANR, but I hate the smell! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad! Definitely pick up another one, wait for them to go on offer again though! x
ReplyDeleteI agree the finish is better, but 9.99999 times out of 10 I just have time! I have actually tried using it with powder bronzer, and it did actually work!
ReplyDeleteIt's just a bit of a faff, I don't have time! I'm back on the BB creams again, I hate them except for when it's hot! Which one do you use? x
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to get hold of here too! They're both awesome products! I picked up another in the states, SO GOOD! x
ReplyDeleteI think it's new! So pretty! x
ReplyDeleteMe neither. It does bug me that I can't get it clean though! x
ReplyDeleteIsn't it just! It's so flattering! x
ReplyDeleteIt is really good! x
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I've only just gotten round to replying to this! I'd say it's pretty different from Tipsy, less bright, more natural! I can't remember what Blissful looks like haha! I wouldn't call it a dupe, the textures are VERY different, however I'd say in terms of lasting power, they are pretty equal! I still slightly prefer the finish of the hourglass, if I was going to an important event I'd reach for that, it photographs better, but the Max Factor is a good every day option! Hope that helps! x
ReplyDeleteI'm using The Body Shop's new Tea Tree one. I don't know what made me buy it as like I said I usually hate BB creams but I liked the look of it and actually quite like it x
