"lip butter"

Revlon Lip Lackin'

MAC Lovelorn, Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie, Kate Moss for Rimmel 08

I think I might just hold the record for only Beauty Blogger to not go crazy for the Revlon Lip Butters. Sure they're okay, but to be honest, the colour range isn't great, it's extensive but they're all a bit weird, and I'm not sure how they get off marketing these as a lip butter on anything but formula, cause these things are not moisturising at all.

Anywho, minor problems aside, I finally found one I like in the shade Wild Watermelon, which was a later release, but to be honest, I think I've only worn it twice, since I rarely sport a sheer red lip, lovely as it is.

Quite recently Boots and Superdrug had Revlon products on two for £10 to celebrate the release of the Lash Potion Mascara. I had my eye on said mascara (more on that at a later date) and since it retails at £9.99, it made sense to splurge an extra penny to pick up something else.

Since everyone and their mother seems to be in love with these damn lipsticks, I figured I'd dive back into the pool and have another look at the shade range, and after swatching every damn one, I plumped for Berry Smoothie, who's packaging definitely does not represent it's colour. Annoying much.

Now, the one I swatched in the shop was pretty mushed, and it actually looked much darker than mine does (sob), this shade is actually pretty similar to my natural lip colour (if they actually were hydrating, this would be okay, since it would be like a lip balm) but it actually means you can barely see it on me. In terms of formula, it's lovely, but there's just something missing from these.

I tried, but I really am not sure what the hype around these lipsticks is, they're pretty pricey (£7.99) and there are a lot more lipsticks that are cheaper and better. Similarly, I think I'd rather spend an extra seven pounds for a MAC/Urban Decay/Benefit lipstick, than go for one of these again. I just don't get it. Definitively glad I only paid a penny for this!

Are you a fan of the Revlon Lip Butters? What do you think?

Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate

I've been giving the lip balms a lot of loving recently, my lips have been having a bit of a freak out. I think because I was really piling on the balm in the Winter months, and then when it started to get warmer, I started to neglect it, they've been pretty dry and cracked. It's been a bit of a nightmare too because every lipstick, lacquer and gloss seems to highlight the dryness, so I went through a period of just wearing super hydrating lip balms, and bulking up the eye makeup. But I started to get bored of the plain lip things, and all the tinted balms I had were just not hydrating enough for the state my lips were in, so out I went in search of something that was a good combination of both.

Now, in all honesty, I needed this about as much as a swan needs an iPod. But I've wanted to try the Korres lip butters for forever, so any old excuse! I picked this up in Liberty's, and they're pretty pricey, but I've used this tonnes and barely made a dent so I can tell it's going to last forever (unlike some of my Blistex, Soap and Glory and Burts Bees alternatives that with daily use last like two weeks). In Liberty's these are £8, and things are normally a little pricier there so I'd imagine you can buy them cheaper elsewhere.

In essence they're a super buttery, hydrating product, that leaves a pink tint to your lips. I went for Pomegranate since it smells divine and has a really versatile pink pay off! It's great on it's own, but I've also liked layering it over MAC's Viva Glam Gaga, Lovelorn, and it even looks good over my Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in number 37, a bold pink to add a little sheen and ramp up the moisture intensity.

I'm going to do a bit of a lip balm round up in the coming weeks since they've been getting a lot of love from me lately!

What's your favourite tinted lip balm?

Summer Lip Lovin'

Superdrug 3 for 2's don't tend to drag me in as much as Boots' do, I don't really know why. But today I headed in, armed with fifteen pounds to spend on some holiday lip picks, with a few certain expectations.

My lipstick wardrobe is pretty expansive, but I'm majorly lacking in the lipgloss/tint/lacquer/sheer department. I wanted to find some summery colours for my holiday, that would survive in the heat (I've been down the melted MAC lippie route and I'm not going back). I've wanted to try the L'Oreal Glamshine Stain Splash, since they've been pegged as a pretty much perfect dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains (YSL is owned by L'Oreal so it would make sense), and who doesn't love a lipstick with a staying power? I went for shade 102 Romy, a pretty pink nude. The gloss fades after about an hour, but it does create a very pretty stain on your lips! Perfect for relaxing by the pool.

Whilst I'm not a massive fan of the Rimmel Apocalips, I have found a way to make them stay put and not stain my entire face, plus they have a pretty good lasting power, so I picked up Apocalyptic, a bright red pink that is a liiiiiittle bit scary. The jury's still out on this one for now!

Lastly, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up a Revlon Lip Butter. I know this will probably melt in the heat, but it's just for a sheer wash of bold colour for the evening, I won't be taking it out by the pool! I've ummed and ahhed over these for a while, the colour range has always put me off though, I've never found one I really like. However, I absolutely love this one, Wild Watermelon. It's bright red in the bullet but wears as a sheer pink red. Super pretty!
