The Review: Urban Decay Naked 3

I'm sure you guys have seen tons of photos and reviews of this by now, but I thought I'd chuck in my two cents. 

This palette is gorgeous, 12 very wearable, neutral rosy hued shadows. There's a nice handful of matte shades, more than in the original Naked Palettes, which makes a nice change. I particularly like the five darker shades, they're unlike anything else in my collection. The staying power is great, but best with a primer (I like the Painterly Paint Pot from MAC) and the shimmery shades don't fall out around the eyes. The shades are particularly flattering with hazel or green eyes, and look gorgeous on pale skin. As always with Urban Decay shadows, the formulas are great, buttery smooth and a little goes a long way. An awesome palette for travelling, it's got everything you need for neutral day and smokey night looks. I even like the brush in this kit, the flat end is great for packing on shadow, and the fluffier end is perfect for popping colour in the crease, you just need a fluffy brush to blend out with. 

Overall, this is a gorgeous palette. No you don't need it, but hey, Christmas is coming, maybe you deserve it?

My Blog's First Birthday

Sorry for the radio silence this week, I haven't been very well this week so I didn't have any posts queued up, so I had a little break but I'm back with you now, with something rather exciting...

On the 26th my blog will be exactly one year old. How exciting is that?! That's one whole year that this little corner of the internet has been devoted to my foray into the beauty world. There's been two fashion weeks, one Christmas, more Benefit launches than you can shake a stick at, way too much money spent and approximately 4,698,742 burgers eaten. I've made a lot of great friends, met some amazing people, been to a ton of parties and launches, and had a great year.

So I thought it would be fitting to give something back to you, my lovely readers! If I could I'd come and give you all a massive hug, but since apparently you're all quite far flung, I thought I'd settle for a giveaway!

I wanted to giveaway a product I love, and I settled on one of the new Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks, in the shade Lovelight. I absolutely love these lipsticks, the formula is infallible, creamy and hydrating, whilst staying put for ages. The shade Lovelight is a gorgeous coral nude, with a hint of shimmer running through it, although that doesn't really translate to the lips. I picked this one since it will suit pretty much everyone! I wear it all the time (not this exact one obviously, this one is new for you!)

There's always something on my wishlist, but with a recent barrage of new releases, and new discoveries, my wishlist is getting pretty extensive at the moment.

High up on the list is Chanel's Creme blusher, isn't it pretty? I've been swatching it every shift at work and I've now decided it will be mine. As for that Bobbi Brown palette, who could resist those colours? The Urban Decay Lipsticks have been up there for a while now, but I can't decide between these two shades for first purchase. I desperately need some new Converse as I had to bid farewell to my last pair due to unfortunate circumstances, and I love these burgandy ones! I've been after a rose gold nail paint for a while now, and recently discovered Topshop's Twilight Tease which fits the bill nicely. And lastly, the new Giorgio Armani fragrance was sniffed and sprayed at work last week, and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a really refreshing, fruity fragrance, quite unlike anything I've smelt before.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Listen closely folks, I have an announcement to make, and I'm only going to say this once.

I was wrong.

Ooh that hurt.

I have been struggling recently with keeping my makeup on my face all
day, I don't have particularly oily skin, but for some reason, in the
last couple of months not one of my foundation favourites has been
staying put, even with a primer. And combine that with our current
heatwave, it only got worse.

When I first heard about Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray, I passed it off as a money making novelty product. I couldn't possibly believe that anything could make your makeup stay fresh looking for 16 hours, that is a pretty bold claim.

Eventually, curiosity got the better of me and I picked it up.

And it's love. 

A few sprays of this across the face in the morning, straight after applying makeup, and it won't budge until you go at it with the Bioderma before bed. It really does work.

This honestly is the perfect summer essential, I've been out in London in temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius,  and gotten home to find my makeup still looking freshly applied. It's small enough to fit in your handbag, but the bottle lasts for ages. I even put this on before heading down the beach, and it works a treat.

Having used this I genuinely don't think I could not have a bottle of this in my makeup collection, it's that good!

Urban Decay Smoked Palette

 Since starting my new job, I've been trying to get out of the makeup rut that I've been stuck in for a while. I'm trying to say no to neutral eyeshadows, full coverage bases and 'your lips but better' lip colours. I was trying to think about the products I used the most, and amongst them, my Naked 2 palette stood out. I really love my Naked 2 palette, I get so much use out of it, the colours are so wearable, and the formula is out of this world. Urban Decay eyeshadows really are the most pigmented, and buttery shadows that I've ever used. NARS are a close second, but Urban Decay are cheaper and nicer.

So despite the fact I've been avoiding the shops and sales like mad (once I start spending I am incapable of stopping) I decided to pop by my local Urban Decay counter for a little peek. 

Now, my one bug bear with the Naked 2 palette is the packaging, I find it doesn't always stay shut in my bag, and some of the individual shadows are slipping out of the pan, so whilst I considered the build your own palettes, the packaging is pretty similar. I very nearly was taken in by the Dangerous Palette, but all the colours are dark, so you'd still need another palette for lighter colours. Plus it comes with the same mini lip gloss that came with the Naked 2 palette, and whilst I like that, I do already have that.

I then stumbled upon the Smoked Palette. It's got four shadows more than the Dangerous Palette, a 27/7 glide on eyeliner in black, which I've wanted forever, and a sample size of the Primer Potion, which again I've been desperate to try. It's in a zip up palette, so no falling open here.

 Kinky, Freestyle Mushroom, Backdoor, Blackout

 Barlust, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded, Asphalt

 Kinky: is a light, neutral matte shade, that looks great across the lid, or as a highlight colour.
Freestyle: is a more pinky toned version of Kinky. A great base colour.
Mushroom: a grey taupey shimmer. I literally love this colour.
Backdoor: a dark matte brown. Works as an eyebrow shade for me (handy for traveling) but also a great crease or liner shade.
Blackout: this colour is actually in my Naked 2 palette, but I use it loads, it's the darkest matte black, that is a great defining colour, but you can blend it out too, to a dark grey.
Barlust: is a dark metallic brown, which is slightly golden toned. Gorgeous.
Rockstar: I'm so excited about this colour. It's a gorgeous jewel toned deep amethyst, with a silver shimmer.
Evidence: an intense blue shimmer.
Loaded: a beautiful emerald green shimmer.
Asphalt: a dark grey shimmer that looks beautiful as a defining colour paired with Mushroom.

I've been wanting to try the 24/7 liner in Perversion for forever, and it's fourteen pounds on it's own so what a bargain. This is a darkest matte black, the pencil is crazy soft, but once the colour sets, it's going nowhere. 

As an added bonus, this set contains a mini Primer Potion which I have yet to try, but also comes with a little book with suggested looks to try, an illustration and step by step guide, which is great if you don't know where to start. 

And the best part? It was in the sale for £29, only £4 more than the Dangerous Palette.
