Loving Liner Again

Whilst my entire makeup routine at school revolved around lashings of black liner, in the last year I seem to have ditched liner from my rotation in favour of eyeshadow. Since the new year, I've made a conscious effort to wear liner a little more often, since I really like the effect it gives, my eyes stand out a lot more when they're nicely framed.

I tend to reach for pencil over liquid liner, unless I'm not wearing any eyeshadow, and just pairing winged liner with a bold lip, and when that's the case I reach for the Soap and Glory Supercat Liner, a felt tip liquid liner with a fine but hard nib, making application really precise. I love this because it's jet black, it stays put really well, and it doesn't smudge.

A lot of the time I wear brown toned neutral eyeshadows and I feel like adding black liner to that would be too harsh. So, for that I tend to reach for the Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Penny Lane, a golden bronze with flecks of golden shimmer. I love Smashbox liners in general because they're easy to blend but they set and stay put for the rest of the day. This particular liner has a sharpener built into the lid, so each time you untwist the lid it sharpens the pencil.

The pencil I've been pairing with my Naked 3 palette recently is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Rockstar, a dark brown with a hint of purple. This is a really nice alternative to black, and it looks gorgeous smudged along the lash line.

Another nice alternative to black that's been getting a lot of love recently, is the Smashbox Eye Liner in Graphite. This is a gorgeous slate grey that's almost black, I love adding this to smokey eyes to really ramp up the intensity.

And when a black pencil is necessary, at the moment I can't beat the YSL Waterproof Eye Pencil in shade 01*, a soft creamy formula that sets completely waterproof, and won't budge, even on the waterline.
