"5 things to buy"

5 Things to Buy in August

Happy weekend! Since the sun is shining and it's the start of a beautiful weekend, I'm assuming you're all after a list of products to spend your hard earned money on...

First things first, everyone loves a new lip product right? I'm all about glossy lips for this warm weather, and my number one pick right now is the Nyx Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream. Gorgeously smooth and creamy on the lips, in a super pretty peachy nude shade. A handbag staple this one, for sure.

Easy peasy eye makeup handled in one stick, don't waste the last month of summer faffing with eyeshadow, instead pick up the Barbara Daly Shadow Stick in Shimmering Sands and spend under five seconds making each eye look awesome. Sweep it all over the lid, blend with a finger and you're done.

Now you'll need a pretty peach cheek to go with that pretty peach lip, I'd recommend splurging on the Benefit Boxed Blush in Coralista a gorgeous shimmering peach. It's incredibly long lasting and it gives a really pretty glow to the cheeks.

I'm currently rocking the Rimmel Salon Pro Polish in Hip Hop on my fingers and toes, that's commitment to a nail polish. The perfect summer jam, a slightly orangey red, it's just perfect. If you don't have it, you need it.

And lastly, if you are looking for the perfect warm weather, lightweight but buildable base, look no further than the Diorskin Nude BB Creme. Gives good coverage but doesn't feel at all heavy on the skin, it's got SPF in it, and it's long lasting. Full marks.

5 Things to Buy in July

It's finally July, and it's freaking hot. When I head out in Central London I can basically feel my face melting off. This months picks are all based around that summery theme, so without further ado, here are five awesome products that are definitely worth the splurge this month.

First up, something every girl needs in their makeup arsenal, the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, which is, in essence, hairspray for your face. A few spritzes of this post makeup application will ensure that your makeup stays put no matter how hot and sweaty you're getting.

Another product to aid makeup lasting power, the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot setting powder is top notch. Super lightweight and not cakey, but it does really help set foundation.

I have fallen back in love with eyelash curlers recently, and as far as I'm concerned there aren't a better pair than the Shu Umera Lash Curlers. The lift they give to the lashes really opens up the eyes and it lasts such a long time too, even when you don't apply a waterproof mascara.

I love whacking out the highlighters in the summer, and one of my favourites is Benefit Watts Up!, a gorgeous golden champagne creamy highlighter. I like to take a little of this on my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and blend it into the tops of my cheekbones, and it just looks so lovely, no chunky glitter just a nice golden sheen.

And lastly, my favourite lip product for the Summer months, the Estee Lauder Pure Lip Shine in Plexi Pink, one I've spoken about a lot but it's just that good. A gorgeous sheer bright pink, it's just made for summer.

5 Things To Buy In June

A new month, a new wealth of products to spend your money on. If you're looking to conserve a little money this month, I've got you covered, with five products worth the splurge, you can forget the rest!

No7 Pop and Glow Blush in Classic Rose: I'm totally obsessed with this little thing. It's like a giant crayon for your cheek, what could be cuter?! A cream blush in stick form, this is super easy to apply and blend, even with your fingers, and it dries to a powder finish so it's super long lasting on the skin. I love this colour, it just gives a really natural pop of colour to the cheek, but you can build it up easily for something a bit bolder. Love love love.

NARS Duo in Isolde: Or really, just any good eyeshadow duo, I just have a soft spot for this. For days when you want a nice eyeshadow look but you don't want to have to think about it, or for weekends away, this little duo is perfect. One shimmery golden shade for all over the lid, and a darker copper shade for the crease, it's so easy to create a smokey eye with this duo, it's unreal. I love NARS eyeshadows so much, the quality of them is incredible, buttery soft and pigmented and so long lasting!

Anastasia DipBrow Pomade: Essentially, a gel liner for your eyebrows. Really strange, but oddly enough looks naturally defined when applied the right way. This stuff is the only eyebrow product that really stays perfectly applied all day. You need this.

L'Oreal Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in Rose Melody: I'm freaking obsessed with this. A gorgeous gloss/balm/stick hybrid that offers glossy hydrating lip colour, in my perfect pinky nude shade. It's love I tell you.

Revlon Nail Art Sun Candy in Lava Flame: If you plan on travelling this summer, here is your perfect on the go nail product. A gorgeous bright orange coral on one end and a pretty peachy gold shimmer topcoat in the other. The formula of this is actually quite long lasting, and glossy enough to wear alone.

5 Things To Buy in May

Since last months version of this feature went down really well I thought why not try it again this month! So if you're on a budget, these are the five products that are worth the splurge this month.

First up, the priciest of the bunch, I've been testing out the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation since February and I'm obsessed with it. As far as lightweight, dewy, medium coverage foundations go, this is the cream of the crop. I honestly haven't tried a better foundation than this and if you want to splurge, this is the one to go for.

I fell in love with the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer this month. This applied to the skin pre-foundation just adds a gorgeous glow to the skin, that makes you look healthier than you actually are! This is a real multipurpose one too, I've used it as a primer, a highlighter, and mixed with concealer to brighten up the undereyes. Three in one? Definitely makes it worth picking up.

A couple of weeks ago I repurchased the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer and I can't remember why I didn't do it earlier. I was given one of these at the Smashbox UK launch nearly two years ago and it's honestly the best eyeshadow primer I've ever used. It really creates a velvet texture to the lid that eyeshadow just clings to, and it lasts so well.

Another L'Oreal product but the brand has really impressed me recently. The L'Oreal Collection Privee Cheryl's Nude Lipstick is a gorgeous nude that just really suits my skin tone, and goes with everything so well. The quality of L'Oreal lipsticks has really impressed me, they aren't the cheapest in the drugstore, but they're definitely some of the best!

And lastly a nail polish that I'm obsessed with, the Maybelline Super Stay Gel Polish in Berry Stain. A gorgeous bright purple shade that really just sums up my mood right now, is that a strange way to describe a nail polish? Anyway, it's got an amazing formula, and comes in under £5, definitely one to pick up on a lunchbreak!
