Some Exciting News!

Your eyes are not decieving you! Yes, that looks just like this blog here, but not quite the same!

I've been excited to tell you guys about this for a long time, but I wanted to wait til it was ready to launch, but guess what?! I have a new blog!

I've wanted to start a new blog for a long time now, somewhere to share lifestyle posts, and use almost like a diary! That means right here can be reserved solely for beauty, sound good?

I explained a little more in my first post on the blog, but you can find it at jayerockett.com, it would mean a lot to me if you could all go check it out!

Thanks guys!

This Month I...

... came back to London. I love living here but when I'm doing nothing but going to Uni and doing work in my flat, I tend to forget it. It's such a beautiful city when you know where to look.

... learnt to like coffee. I've never liked tea or coffee, but with so much work to do this month, I just had to find a way to drink coffee to keep me going. Now I think I'm slightly addicted to Starbuck's White Caffe Mochas (topped with whipped cream, of course).

... made homemade pizzas with the boyfriend. We cheated a little and used premade bases, but it was fun picking our toppings, and we used the pizza herbs I bought back from my trip to Italy in September, they were so tasty. Served with our favourite cider and the latest episode of American Horror Story, it was like a date night in, and it was so much fun (not as fun clearing up grated cheese from all over the kitchen after though).

... went for drinks with good friends. I'm very much the epitome of 'Grandma' so the idea of being out past 8pm, or drinking alcohol is practically unheard of. But I was dragged out for a drink by the boys and felt very Sex in the City sipping my Cosmopolitan. On a Monday night no less! They may make a party animal of me yet.

... did a lot of baking and cooking. I got a ton of kitchen bits for Christmas and have loved spending time in the kitchens, making soup and cakes and all sorts. These were a favourite, super easy to make Lemon Cake bars, and so tasty.

... ate a lot of homemade Nandos. My parents made a hamper for the boyfriend and I for Christmas, and inside where some of the Nandos sauces. So we've had a lot of Peri-Peri chicken, served with wraps and salads, grilled halloumi and sweet potato mash. Scrummy.

... caught up with my lovely friend Melisa at one of our favourite restaurants. We hadn't seen each other for ages, what with me being back in Bournemouth for three weeks over Christmas, and the mounds of work we had before that. We filled up in Vapianos, and then hit the Selfridges Beauty Hall. Old habits die hard.

All in all it's been a quiet month, as January often is. Filled with lots of work and little else, other than cosy evenings in with the boy, watching American Horror Story and Revenge, and falling asleep halfway through.

What have you been up to in January?

2014 on Bedinthekitchen

2014 is going to bring around big changes here on BedInTheKitchen, which are all going to be kicking off in the next few months, but first I wanted to get your opinion. There's no point in me spending time on the blog if you guys aren't enjoying it, your opinion matters! So if you have a moment, I'd really appreciate it if you could fill in the survey below, it won't take any more than five minutes, and it will mean the world!

To 2014!

This Fortnight I...

...took a lot more photos than usual! I went with my parents up to Winchester for an evening stroll round the Christmas Market at the Cathedral, ate my body weight in German fried potatoes and got into the festive spirit.

...had Christmas and spent lots of time with family! I don't get to see much of my younger cousins so it's been lovely to get to see them so much whilst I've been back in Bournemouth. I had a lovely Christmas, just my parents and my sister, and then Boxing day we had all the family round for presents and polishing off the food!

...took the dog for a long walk in the forest on the only nice day all fortnight. We spent two hours walking around in the New Forest, saying hello to the horses, donkeys and cows, throwing a ball around, and mud dodging. All the puddles were frozen over so every time the dog would walk over the puddles he would slide across and then break through the ice, ending up with soggy paws! Con and I went for a much deserved lunch at the local pub after, we were exhausted!

...went for breakfast with my daddy. I don't see much of my dad so it's nice to spend time together when I'm home. These last two weeks we've been for lunch at Wagamama's, to see the Hunger Games, and then for breakfast!

...spent New Years Eve in! My boyfriend was working so I spent the night in with my parents, we watched a movie and the fireworks and drank a bottle of Champagne at midnight. I'm not really one for New Years, so it was nice to enjoy a quite night in this year!

...watched Sherlock curled up in front of the fire! Sherlock is one of my favourite TV programmes, I don't actually watch much TV, but I love this! We grabbed some bars of Cadbury's and snuggled up with the dog!

...saw my favourite three little ones. We spent last night round our very close family friends place, where we had a late Christmas, lots of food, presents and wine. We all played Just Dance, Bop It and Scattegories and had a lot of laughs.

I've had an amazing few weeks back home with family, and I'm almost dreading driving back to London tomorrow! I hope you've all had a great Christmas break!

New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all saw out 2013 in style, and that you all have a fabulous 2014, and hopefully you aren't all nursing terrible hangovers today!

For the most part, I don't like to make New Years Resolutions, mostly because I can never stick to them, so I just end up disappointed in myself! However, there are a few things I'd love to achieve this year!

Take more photos, and print them out! I spoke about this in this post, I want to try and take a lot of photos this year, and put them in albums, so I have a proper record of what I get up to!

Get out more! The last few months I've spent a lot of time holed up in my flat working, because it takes me so long to get motivated! I'd like to procrastinate less this year (ha) and use time that would have been spent procrastinating, getting out and exploring, not just in London, but since I have my car at uni now, in the surrounding area too! If anyone has any ideas for places I can go, let me know!

Keep making healthier choices! I spoke about the changes I've made over the last few months to try and get healthier, and fitter, but it's so easy to slip back into bad habits, something that inevitably happens over the Christmas period! I know how good it feels to be fitter though, so I want to keep it up!

Give Uni my all. I slacked a bit at Uni last term, feeling disheartened by the lack of lectures we had, but this term we are in class a lot more, and I'm looking forward to really sinking into this terms project!

Develop the Blog. I am looking forward to carrying on with my blog, hopefully continuing to blog everyday as I have over the last two months, and I'd like to expand from mostly beauty posts, to adding in a few fashion and lifestyle posts. I've already shown you the DIY project I'm taking on this month, I hope to share more along the way too, DIYs, recipes, and the like. If you have any post requests, be sure to let me know!

But mostly, I just want to have a happy, healthy 2014, surrounded by family and friends, and I'm looking forward to carrying on with my blog!

Happy New Year to you all! Have you made any New Years Resolutions?
