Empties #4

Once again, the box under my desk full of empty products is overflowing, so here's the rundown of the products I've used up, whether I'd purchase them again, and what I thought.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Secret Agent: I'm sure I've mentioned this before, this is a product that I've been using since I was about eleven, my mum, my sister, even my Dad, use this. If you've got the frizzy hair gene, you need this. It tames flyaways and frizz without making hair feel heavy or sticky.

Tresemme Salon Salon Silk Shampoo: I picked this up basically because it said 'moisture' on the bottle, and my hair felt dry. This is too much for me for daily use, I found it made my hair feel heavy and flat, and greasy quicker, I had to get The Boy to finish this off for me. Nice if your hair is needing a bit of moisture, but the bottles too big and it's too much for everyday

Will I repurchase? Unlikely.

Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo: This was recommended to me by a reader, and I'm so glad because I really like it. Unlike most dry shampoos, this is clear, so it doesn't leave a white cast in your hair. It doesn't have a heavy scent, just smells fresh, so it's not overpowering. The one thing I don't like about this, is the fact that it only lasted me about two weeks, since I use a little dry shampoo to style my hair everyday, when a can of Batiste will last me a month.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo: I really liked this until I discovered the Tresemme one. Now this feels heavy and horrible. I think the Tresemme one actually makes my hair feel clean, whereas this one just masks oils.

Would I repurchase? No.

V05 Give Me Texture: I've spoken about this a thousand times, so I'll make this brief. Highstreet dupe for the Oribe Dry Texturising spray & Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Thickening spray. Adds texture to hair without making it feel heavy with product.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Conditioner: I mentioned this in my recent Disappointing Products post, I used it up just because it was expensive and I didn't want to waste it, but I really didn't get on with this at all. It was really thin and really didn't do anything for my hair at all, when I washed it out my hair didn't even feel like I'd put conditioner in it. Shame because the hair mask from this range is one of my favourites.

Would I repurchase? Definitely not.

Kleenex Facial Cloths: I actually got through four boxes of these, but it seemed silly to keep all of them. I use these every night to remove my makeup and I love them.

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Sure Maximum Protection Deodorant: I picked this up because I couldn't work out what was so special about it, it looks the same as Sure's standard roll on (which I like) but it's more than double the price and is in weird twist up packaging. I didn't get on with this at all, I found that one twist gave out too much product, leaving me with wet under-arms and deodorant all over my clothes, the tube didn't last long at all, and unlike the standard roll on, I couldn't still smell this on me at the end of the day (in fact, the smell was gone by about 3pm). Not impressed with this at all.
Would I repurchase? No but I would get the standard roll on.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: Oh wow I love this. A thick creamy cleanser that takes off makeup a treat but leaves skin feeling hydrated, smooth and clean. From what I gather online this either works for your skin because of the essential oils, or it doesn't, and for me it really does. When I stopped using this my skin broke out like nobodies business, within a week I'd bought another bottle, and now I use it every night without fail.

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Aromatherapy Associates Bath and Shower Oil in Revive Evening and  De-Stress Muscles: These were part of the Aromatherapy Associates Gift set I picked up in the sales. I loved these so much, they recommend putting the whole bottle in one bath, but I find that half is more than enough to fill the room with scent and leave my skin soft after. Really impressed with these.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer: Finally used this one up, a little really goes a long way with this product. One of my favourite primers for smoothing the surface of the skin and making makeup last longer.

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Tint:  I've had this for ages but it's finally packed in and dried up. I liked this as a base for lipstick, I found it really helped the colour last, but also fade evenly.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but I have a lot of other products like this that I'd use up first!

Max Factor Lip Tint: Same story as the Maybelline one really, except this one dried up quicker. Shame because it's a lovely product!

Would I repurchase? Probably not.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder: My favourite setting powder from the highstreet. I hit pan on this majorly, and then smashed it and lost the end. Gives a little coverage, a lot of staying power and gets rid of shine, liked this a lot!

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Benefit Hello Flawless Powder Foundation: I absolutely love everything about this product, except the price. Really gutted that this is all gone, it's definitely my favourite setting powder of all. It's got enough coverage that you can apply it with a Beauty Blender and wear it alone, or you can apply it with a brush as a setting powder. Love the colour on me too!

Would I repurchase? Yes, but I'd wait til it was on offer or I had a voucher.

What products have you used up this month? Have you tried any of these products?

Empties #3

I've  been on a using stuff up mission recently, I mean, I had eleven mascaras open. Eleven. I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet, but if you want to know more about any of these products, just let me know!

Herbal Essences Soft and Smooth Shampoo - I picked this up when I went home for a few weeks and forgot shampoo because it was on offer and it smelt nice, but I actually really liked this. It left my hair feeling super soft and silky.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Bed Head Urban Antidotes Resurrection Shampoo and Conditioner* - I absolutely loved this shampoo and conditioner. It's lasted me forever, partly because I've only been using it every other hair wash, and partly because you don't need much. It smells good, and it has worked wonders on my bleach fried hair. When I use up the rest of the open shampoos and conditioners in my shower, I'm going to purchase the massive bottles of this.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Repair mask - My favourite hair mask for improving the condition of my hair. I leave this on for around ten to twenty minutes in the bath instead of using conditioner, and then I try not to heat style my hair after that. I get through one of these every couple of months or so, I really does help my hair.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Tresemme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment - I wasn't all that impressed with this, a lot of people talked about this and said it was great, but I really didn't think it did anything other than what a normal conditioner does.

Would I repurchase? No.

Batiste Dry Shampoo for Dark and Deep Brown hair* - I use this to style my hair every day, to add volume and texture to my hair. I like this because it doesn't leave a grey residue in my hair.

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Soap and Glory The Breakfast Scrub - This is my favourite body scrub, it's super gritty and it smells delicious, really gets your rough bits gone. Because this is so intense, a little goes a long way, and this pot has seen me through the better part of two months.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I'm currently using the S&G Sugar Crush one, but I think this one beats it! Plus the scent is more wintery!

Nivea In Shower Skin Conditioner - I thought this stuff was gonna be a gimmick but I'm a convert. Crappy packaging aside, this stuff is great. Traditional Nivea scent, good hydration, super quick and easy. What more could you want?

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Flourigard Daily Rinse Mouthwash - This is wildly unexciting, but since mouthwash is one of the few products in my stash I am loyal to, I thought I'd mention it. Yeah. It's good.

Would I repurchase? Already have.

Sicillian Lemon Oil Lamp Fragrance - my favourite fragrance for cosy nights in.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Gosh Blush in Electro Pink - The first blush I have ever used up. Gosh blushes have really good wear time & pigmentation, and this colour is gorgeous!

Would I repurchase? Yes.

YSL Shocking Volume Mascara* - My favourite mascara ever. Good volume, length, doesn't go clumpy and looks amazing. Only drawback is the price!

Would I repurchase? Yes.

NYC Big & Bold Mascara - This mascara is about three pounds and it gives massive volume and length.  One of my favourite high street picks.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara - A decent mascara but there's no wow factor.  It did go ages before it started to dry up though.

Would I repurchase? Probably not.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - My go to under eye brightener. I love this stuff, it's light with good coverage, doesn't crease or cake and wears really well.

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask - This is my favourite face mask, I get through so much of this stuff! It's a total wonder product, banishing spots overnight.

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Rimmel Nail Polish in Black Cab - The first nail colour I've used up in a long time. I like this because it only really needs one coat and dries super quick. Rimmel nail polishes last ages on my nails too!

Would I repurchase? Yes.

What products have you used up recently? Have you tried any of these products?

Empties! #1

I don't think there's a better reason to start culling the beauty stash and using up a few products than moving. It's been the kick start I need to use up some products and strip back my beauty box(es) to a more manageable size. I also didn't realise (until I started looking) how many open and abandoned products I had lurking around in the bottom of my drawers! So here are the products I've used up in the last six weeks!

Hair

Lush Retread and Blousey*

I liked these, but I wasn't overwhelmed. I didn't really get on with the smell, and whilst they worked, that was really all they did. I much prefer my new Lush shampoo bar! I'd like to try Big from Lush too.

Will I repurchase? Probably not.

Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour Mask

It took me a while to use this, because just after I started using it (I found it in the back of my stash) I had all my hair cut off and there was no dye left. It's nice as a conditioner alternative though, since it's super thick!

Will I repurchase? Yes, if I ever dye my hair again

Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque

I absolutely loved this mask, it totally helped save my hair from it's limp, lifeless, damaged state! It smells pretty clinical, but who cares when it works a treat?

Will I repurchase? Already have!

Lee Stafford For Hair That Never Grows Past A Certain Length

I loved this mask too! Let's get one thing straight, it does not make your hair grow, it plies your hair with nutrients and nourishes it into it's optimum growing conditions. Smells great, lasts ages and works a treat.

Will I repurchase? Already have!

John Freida Full Repair Shampoo*

Urgh, so glad to be done with this one, I thought it would never end. I feel so bad because this was sent to me to review, but I just really didn't like it. It didn't help my hair at all, it was runnier than my normal conditioner, it smelt bad, I just really didn't like it. I still have the conditioner of this kicking about in my shower because that won't die either, but to be honest I'm just going to chuck it, I really didn't enjoy using this! If you're looking for something that works, try BedHead's Urban Antidotes Resurrection Range, I loved that!

Will I repurchase? Not in this lifetime.

Aussie Three Minute Miracle Colour Treatment

I don't have a bad word to say about this. Smells incredible, super moisturising, kept my hair shiny and my colour looking good (I used most of this whilst my hair was still coloured, and the ends up last week!) I love all the Aussie products I've tried and this is no exception.

Will I repurchase? Yes, if I colour my hair again.

Face, Makeup & Samples

Nivea In Shower Skin Conditioner*

This sample wasn't really enough to tell, but I've bought it and I love it! You can read my full review here.

Will I repurchase? Already have!

Montagne Jeuness Chocolat Blanc Face Mask*

A nice lazy evening treat but I don't really feel like it did much for my skin. Quite moisturising, and nice for a girly evening in, plus it's only a pound, but no major skincare benefits.

Would I repurchase? Maybe, if I was going away or wanted something quick.

Maybelline Stay 24/7 Gel Topcoat

Not majorly impressive. I bought it when I ran out of Seche Vite and didn't want to buy it again. But it takes a long time to dry on the nails, and I found that the brush would set mid-way through painting.

Would I repurchase? No.

Max Factor Gel Liner

My favourite lid liner. Getting rid of this one because it dried out (I have had it a year though!) but it's better than the Bobbi Brown equivalent and on a par with MAC's Blacktrack.

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

One of, if not my favourite setting powder. Cheap and cheerful, smells like grannies, but does a great job. Possible contenders are the Bourjois powder and S&G One Heck Of A Blot, but nothing beats the £3.99 price tag.

Would I repurchase? I still have two going in my stash, but after that, yes!

L'Oreal Super Liner

I didn't really get much of a chance to try this out, because the packaging was crap and broke a few weeks after I got it, making it dry out almost instantly, but from what I tried I really liked it.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but probably not unless it was on offer.

Benefit They're Real*

It was love, and then it wasn't. I feel like this mascara is really good for a week, and then a bit meh. I'm not a fan of plastic brushes, I do prefer a natural bristle. To be honest, it's a lot of money just to have nice lashes for a week.

Would I repurchase? No.

Lush Let The Good Times Roll

Sob...Let's have a moment here for our fallen friends, the ones that get so cruelly discontinued. This is the best cleanser I have ever used hands down, I was so sad to use this up. I've been told they may be bringing it back at christmas so I've got everything crossed!

Would I repurchase? In a heartbeat.

Montagne Jeuness Apricot Scrub Mask*

I'd never used an exfoliating mask before, but I quite enjoyed it. My skin felt super clean after this and I adore the smell.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Kleenex Facial Cloths

Ohhhh my god I love these. I've actually gotten through like three boxes recently. So much better than your average cotton pads, I can do Bioderma, cleanser and toner in one fell swoop with these. They're pretty pricey generally, but I spotted them in Poundland last week and stocked up!

Would I repurchase? Yes, and I already have.

I've just realised this is getting a little long, so Part two will be on it's way next week!
