Where Have You Been?

Despite the fact that I buy more makeup in a week than everyone else I know collectively buys in a year, I am terrible for mixing up my makeup routine. I find products I like, I use nothing else but them, and everything else falls by the wayside.

So I've decided that every weekend, I'm going to rummage through my makeup drawers to find products that I've been neglecting, and whack them out on top of my desk, so I will play with them throughout the week.

Also, kinda makes me feel like I've been shopping, without spending any money. Kind of. Sort of. It'll do for a while.

So, onto the lips!

I picked up Benefit's Benetint less than a month ago, after being somewhat coerced into buying it at a Benefit event, but since it came home, it's been languishing in my makeup drawer and hasn't seen the light of day. To be honest, if I was doing an online order, or there were no pushy sales assistants, I probably wouldn't have picked this up. I would never use this as a cheek product, because it's just too fussy for me, I like quick, easy use products. As a lip tint, it is great, I just prefer easy use products like my Rimmel 1000 kisses lip stain. But, at over £20, this isn't a product you want to waste, so I think this is going to go in my handbag with a lip brush, since it lasts well all day, and can be used to create a sheer pinky look, or a nice bold lip. So no excuses really, since this is a nice, multi use product, which normally I love!

Next up is Clinique's Chubby Stick intense, in Curviest Caramel. I got this just before Christmas, and I actually do really like it. I don't own many browny nude lip colours (just checked, this is the only one I have!) and I was surprised by how nice it looks on me, since I never considered myself a browny nude lip girl. Anyway, I was never all that enthralled with the original Chubby Sticks, since I felt the price tag was way too hefty for something with such, for want of a better word, crap colour payoff. But I love the intense versions, you can swipe this over your lip for sheer coverage, or pair it with a lip liner (I use Clinique's quickliner for lips in 40 Neutrally) and use a lip brush to build up a longer lasting, more intense look. Lovely!

This MAC lippie is the first one I ever bought, when I moved to London in September. It's a cremesheen formula in Sunny Seoul, which is a beautiful pink lipstick, which looks quite alarmingly pink in the bullet, but has quite a sheer, peachy pink application. This kinda got forgotten when I bought Lovelorn, which is pretty similar, but slightly less peachy, and it's a lot less sheer. It's a lovely lipstick though, and deserves more love!

In terms of face stuff, I pulled out my That Gal primer from Benefit. I loved this when I first got it, and it is a really nice primer, but my skin went through an oily patch just after I got it (timed right around an influx in chocolate eating, Christmas spirit alright) so this was kind of forgotten in favour of my Porefessional, which gives a lot more matte finish. And I think since then, I've been paranoid about my skin being oily, so this was just kind of forgotten. But my skin is pretty normal now, and this primer is great mixed in with your foundation for lighter coverage, or underneath foundation for a dewy finish. Prettyyyyy.

This blush was the blush that started my love affair with Sleek blushes. Blush, blush, blush. It's the darkest blush I own, but it's very pretty, and gives you a flushed pink look. I kinda abandoned this when I picked up Benefit Sugarbomb, and since then I've been using a Vivo Baked Blush, my MAC Archie's Girls Pearlmatte face powder, and Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge. However, none of those give the same pinched cheek look as this, and I miss it!

Onto eyes! I absolutely love the Body Shop Shimmer cubes, and this one started my love affair with neutral shadows. It's great for either a single shimmer swatched across the lid, or you can use all four to build up a perfect smokey eye. This got completely forgotten when I picked up my Naked 2 Palette, but this is kind of better for carrying around, in your handbag or if you're traveling, since it's a lot smaller than the Naked Palettes!

I bought my Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara as a stop gap, since I knew my mum had bought me some more for Christmas, but I wasn't about to go two weeks without mascara! I kind of forgot about this, since I got my new one, but I pulled it out of my mascara drawer this morning and kind of fell in love with it all over again. It's not like, incredible in terms of volume, or length or anything, but it's just a really nice mascara for during the day, not to extreme, it doesn't clump, and it's lovely! Very conscious that it's going to be out of date soon, so I'm going to use it up! Also I think this is only £10, so it's a great alternative to using my Benefit or YSL mascaras everyday!

And last but not least, nails! This is the one and only OPI nail varnish I own, I bought it after I had a manicure in this shade, and fell in love with it. It's a lovely, dark, royal purple with a hint of shimmer. OPI nail varnishes are extortionately overpriced for what they are, and I don't think I would purchase another one full price, my lovely cousin Lucy is a beautician and she did mention once she can get them discounted, so I may have to pester her next time I'm after some! I want to use this up anyway, it is a nice formula, I just really don't think it's worth £14!

So there you have it! Do you guys like any of these products? Are you guys makeup routiners, or do you like to mix it up?

I think I said kinda, and kind of about forty times in this post, sorry! Also, I feel like I need to start doing these multiple product posts as videos instead, what do you guys think?

  3. This is such a fab idea for a post and I loved reading this one. I think as bbloggers its so easy to find new loves and forget about other little beauty treasures that you used to love. That blush from Sleek looks amazing, I'm still yet to try one of their, I think you have persuaded me that I need to pop into Superdrug tomorrow haha. xxMiss Sunshine & Sparkle
