This is one of those foundations that has
been very much hyped up since it’s release, and a lot of my favourite bloggers
have raved about it, so when Boots’ 3 for 2 popped up again, they just dropped
into my basket!
First off, the serum!
Now, I should start by saying, this colour
isn’t quite right for me. I’m normally the lightest shade, in this case 51, but
that was far too pinky for my skin, and 52 was a much closer match, but still a
little dark, so now when I wear this, I’ve taken to mixing in a little of the
MUA Undressed foundation, which lightens the colour, but doesn’t really change
the formula, since you don’t need to add much!
I decided to go for the serum as opposed to
the foundation, it’s a little more expensive (I think it’s the difference of about two pounds) but I prefer the
formula.
It’s a gel foundation, the formula actually
reminds me a lot of the YSL Teint Touche Eclat foundation, but this is about
the third of the price. It’s a little thicker, I think it gives a bit more
coverage too. The nice thing about this foundation is you can buff a little
into your skin for a lighter, dewy look, or you can use a bit more, for a
fuller coverage look, but still maintain that fresh, natural looking skin.
The bottle claims “Vitamin-Rich fruit
therapy, instant anti-fatigue”, it contains fruit extract and it’s hypo
allergenic. Now I’m not sure this foundation is necessarily good for your skin, but I used it on a
recent allergy-induced breakout to cover up, and it certainly didn’t make it
any worse. I’d agree with the anti-fatigue part though, this is great for
making me look more awake in the morning!
It’s really light on your skin too, doesn’t
make your skin feel heavy, or like you’re wearing too much makeup, and the
smell is utterly gorgeous, this is definitely the best smelling foundation of
them all, much better than it’s YSL alternative, which has an oddly, painty,
smell.
It claims to have 16 hour wear, I’m not
sure that’s necessarily the case, but with a decent setting powder, it’ll last
you most of the day.
All in all, it’s a thumbs up from me, I
tend to reach for this on days when I fancy a medium coverage, and a more
natural look!
Onto the powder, and I’m not so sure about this
one. Bourjois’ Healthy Balance Unifying powder claims to have 10 hour wear, a
hydrating and anti-shine formula, with a matte finish and ‘boosted radiance’.
I’d say that’s a pretty optimistic outlook on the product.
It’s a very soft powder, feels almost
buttery on the fingers. It doesn’t apply particularly well with a softer brush,
so I skip over the Real Tech setting brush with this, in favour for a
coarser-bristled Eco Tools kabuki. If you’re looking for a setting powder, I
wouldn’t reach for this. It’s possibly one of the highest coverage powders I
own, it’s pretty pigmented and if you aren’t careful can leave a tell tale line
along your jaw. I always buff my powder into my neck anyway, but this can look
a little orange. I think I will reach for this a lot more during the summer,
when I don’t want to wear any foundation, but want a little anti-shine, or just
a touch of coverage.
What do you think of the Bourjois Healthy
Balance Range?
The foundation seems quite promising for the price. I definitely think high street brands are getting better with their formulas! Although I have yet to find a better high street powder than Rimmel Stay Matte...Xxx

ReplyDeleteIt's great isn't it! xx
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help! It sounds like it would be good for what you want! x
ReplyDeleteI love the YSL foundation, but it's a bit of a no brainer for me to pick up this one instead, it's pretty much identical! The only thing being YSL have a better shade range! Definitely too heavy, save that for summer I think! xx
