I think MAC's new collection, Archie's Girls has somewhat split the blogging world. It seems that much like Marmite, you either love it's cutesy 50's feel, or you hate it. And like Marmite, I'm pleased to say that for me, it's love.
Since I'm trying to be a bit more practical with my spending (i.e. not buy the entire collection, just because it's limited edition) I read as many blogs before the collection came out as possible, and decided that there were only two pieces I would actually wear and didn't own anything similar to.
At the moment, the collection is only available in Selfridges, where it seems Archie madness has struck. They've set up and additional counter for Archie makeovers, and characters dance every half hour on a mini podium next to a jukebox, that plays 50's tunes all day long (I imagine that the staff will be tearing their hair out soon).
Anyway, the collection hits stores on the 7th of March, but if, like me, you just can't wait that long, you can head to Selfridges now, though I'd be quick, since all the Veronica lipsticks were sold out when I was in store today.
For anyone who hasn't heard about the collection, it's all based around Archie's Comics (bet you never guessed!) and the collection is split into two halves, Veronica and Betty, based on the two girls vying for Archie's affection.
The Betty products are sweet, spring summer, girl-next-door colours, pinks, corals, lavenders, golds, brown and peaches, whereas the Veronica products are suited for your inner vamp. Dark purples and bright reds, and even a hint of fuchsia. But the great thing is that all these products go together, so you can channel both girls, who says you can't be cute and naughty at the same time?!
Anyway, on to what I got!
Now, I am lucky enough to have the most wonderful boyfriend, who picks up when I'm blabbing on about my latest lust have, and he surprised me completely when he presented me with Betty's Pearlmatte Face Powder in Flatter Me (as well as a box of Love Hearts and a pretty bottle of bubbly)!
Flatter Me is a beautiful pearly face powder in a golden peach colour (Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl) with adorable embossed hearts in a corally pink (Powder Blush in Foolish Me). The outcome of the two colours together is a gorgeous golden, pale pink blush, that you can also lightly powder all over your face for a summertime glow! I am not only obsessed with the gorgeous cutesy packaging, but I am in love with this product, it's so pretty!
Betty Bright is described as a vibrant peach satin lipstick, but I find it wears slightly pinky. This was a TOTALLY JUSTIFIABLE PURCHASE, since I don't own a lipstick in this shade, or even close, I promise! I think I've mentioned before that MAC's Satin lipsticks are my absolute favourite, and this is no exception. Brilliant formula, super creamy and soft, and I adore the colour.
These two products work perfectly together! They look gorgeous together, and I'm having fun channeling my inner Betty with these products!
