I'm terrible for getting stuck in a makeup rut, reaching for the same products over and over and over, so one of the things I wanted to do this year is shake my makeup up a little bit, and make an effort to use different products! So what I want to try and do is go through my makeup collection at the beginning of the month and take out a selection of products that I need to use more, and put them in a makeup bag on my dressing table, to make me reach for them more!
So this month I've put in my Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, because it's nearly all gone, I just need to use the last bit up! This foundation is one of my absolute favourites from the drugstore, it's got a solid medium coverage, not overly matte or dewy finish, just natural, and it's really long lasting. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and it just looks good! I don't use up foundations all that often because I have so many I love, but this is one I'd definitely repurchase in the future.
I finally got around to repurchasing my beloved NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, here's a question for you HOW DID I GO SO LONG WITHOUT IT. I forgot how freaking awesome this stuff is, it's like face photoshop for real life. Seriously.
On the powder front I'm testing out the Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder, and so far so good, it's got good coverage but it doesn't look heavy or cakey.
To go with the foundation I've popped in the Real Techniques Stippling Brush which I usually reserve for cream blush, but it actually works amazingly with this foundation, it kinda sheers it out slightly and makes it a little lighter, but it gives a really flawless, natural finish.
I'm desperately hoping for spring, which is strange since I'm normally a total winter girl, but I've pulled out a couple of cream blushes to get me in the mood. I really love this Jouer Cheek and Lip Tint in Petal, it's just the most beautiful soft peachy nude shade, it's incredibly subtle and natural on the cheeks but it just works. It's like DAMN GIRL YOUR SKIN LOOKS GOOD, without looking like you've piled on the product.
I've fallen back in love with highlighter over the last couple of weeks, and I've pulled the Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand out of my drawers. This is a seriously underrated product, it's a gorgeous champagne sheeny cream highlighter, that looks pretty subtle but just gives a touch of glow. I love using this on the very tops of my cheekbones and on my browbone too! It layers really nicely over the Jouer blush too!
I'm currently testing out the Laura Mercier Smokey Suede Eyeshadow Palette* and so far so I really love it! It's an odd one, the shadows feel like a cream to touch, but they wear like a powder? I'll report more on this next week, but I'm pleased with it so far!
I'm still using the Blink Brow Pencil for my brows, I love how small the nib is, it's so easy to be really precise with & it looks really natural.
I finally got my mitts on one of The Body Shop's Colour Crush Lipsticks in the shade 19, which is a gorgeous sheer coral, and I'm excited to use this this month!
