The Hydrating Base Edit

The temperature in London has finally dropped down below 0 and my skin is feeling the effects. We are back at that time of year where, if it ain't a hydrating base, it ain't going on my face.

My skin is dry enough right now that the last thing I want is a foundation that feels drying on the skin. Luckily for me, I've got a wardrobe of hydrating bases that are glad of the outings.

Starting with the L'Oreal Infallible 24h foundation, a great budget option. It's got a good medium coverage, and a not overly dewy finish, making it a great choice for pretty much any occasion. Another bonus is that the shade range goes incredibly light, great for fellow pale folk!

The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser has the least coverage of these offerings, but it's a great option none the less. If you're looking for something to even out your skin tone, not cover imperfections then this is your gal. The formula of this feels just like moisturiser on the skin, and is incredibly glowy.

The MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation is the high coverage pick of the bunch. It's rare to get a high coverage foundation with a hydrating formula, but this is the exception that proves the rule. It'll cover pretty much everything, without feeling thick and cakey, or at all drying.

And lastly, my current day to day pick, the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, a really light formula with a gel base that offers light to medium coverage whilst hydrating. This stuff feels heavenly on the skin, it's so light!

What's your go to hydrating base pick?
