Whenever a new product is launched in the beauty world that causes a buzz, of course my interest is piqued, but I'm normally the one hanging back, who doesn't pick it up straight away. Possibly because of my reluctance to follow the crowds, I steered clear of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue when it was released. I swatched it once but it pretty much disappeared on my hand instantly so I just ignored it.
But when the hype didn't die down in a hurry I figured I'd better give it a proper run for it's money. I picked up the lightest shade (shocker) and it's a pretty good colour match, possibly a little pink but it blends out a treat and you can't tell.
Bare Minerals advertise this as 'Powerful hydration meets radiant, healthy-looking coverage', They claim it contains 'Energising Electrolytes' to promote moisture balance, antioxidants to protect against environmental stressors, 'Hydrating Humectants' which give 'instant hyrdration' and SPF 30/ Bold claims, but it sounded perfect for this time of year when my skin's a little drier.
Whilst I can't say that I noticed a difference in the general condition of my skin, this is definitely a smoothing and hydrating base, it doesn't cling to dry patches and it feels comfortable on the skin. I can't imagine anyone not getting along with the formula of this, it sinks into the skin and is barely detectable.
Now, you're not going to get full coverage out of this product, but what it will do is smooth out your complexion, hiding redness and covering any little imperfections. On minimal makeup days I'll wear this on it's own, but I also often wear it with a high coverage concealer on imperfections so I can have a more flawless, but still natural looking base. It's incredibly natural looking, it looks like your own skin, just a little smoother and a little more radiant.
I also like using this as a base before higher coverage, more drying foundations, so that my skin has a bit of a moisture barrier to stop it from looking dry and cakey!
It's super easy to apply, for a natural look I just massage a little directly into my skin with my fingers, but you can build up a little more coverage with a domed synthetic foundation brush.
Overall? Big thumbs up from me!
