Do we need to take a minute here for the rose gold packaging? I think I do.
Urban Decay are just ON IT at the moment, with products left right and center that are just blowing me away. The latest to do just that is the brand new limited edition Naked On The Run Palette. Marketed as a travel-ready kit, it's got pretty much everything (except foundation) that you would need for a full face of slap. Five eyeshadows, a bronzer, blush, highlight, liner, mascara and gloss, all in one place with a giant mirror to boot.
Let's start with the packaging, *insert heart eyed emoji here*. It's a beautiful rose gold compact, with a pretty tortoiseshell lid design. I included a picture of me holding it just so you can get an idea of how big it is, it's pretty large, much bigger than I expected. Not sure it's the most travel friendly size, it's quite clunky, but I guess it does have everything! It's got a magnetic clasp so it has that satisfying noise when you shut it, and it's not gonna be opening up in your bag. It's worth noting that the blush and bronzer from Urban Decay are VERY prone to smashing, my Naked Flushed palette self combusted in my Muji Drawers, and the blush in this cracked when I put it on my desk, which is another thing that hampers the travel ability of this. It wouldn't put me off buying it, but I'd definitely be careful about where I took it.
So other than being slightly combustible, I really like the blush and bronzer in the kit. The bronzer is a little darker than what I usually reach for but it works, and gives a warm, sunny glow to the complexion. The blush looks scarily bright in the pan, but these kinda bright blue toned pinks work well on my skin tone, they really brighten it up and make my skin look healthy. The formula of these is great, soft and pigmented, easy to blend too. The shades aren't named but they look pretty similar to those in the Naked Flushed Palette in Native.
The highlight in this set is gorgeous, it's called 5050 and it's a beautiful 'true' champagne shade. It's shimmery, but doesn't look intense on the cheeks, it's more of a subtle glow. I've also used this as an eyeshadow and it works a treat.
There's five decent sized shadows in the palette, I like that they haven't compromised on the size of the powders in this set, they're all good sizes. Three of the shades are shimmery and two are matte, and there's a good mix of shades to be able to create a range of looks. There's Dive, which is a shimmery rose shade, Fix, a light matte taupe, Resist, a darker shimmery taupe, Dare, a medium matte brown and Stun, a bronze with golden shimmer. I like that you've got everything to create a taupe or a bronzey smokey eye, so many travel palettes stick to one or the other, and it's nice to have the option of both. All the shades are brand new, exclusives to the palette, and they're all gorgeous everyday shades. I've found that a mix of Fix and Dare works well for my brows too, I'd be happy to just use that if I was traveling to save packing an extra product. The quality is what I've come to expect from Urban Decay, buttery smooth, intensely pigmented, incredibly long lasting and easy to blend. I'm kinda surprised they didn't chuck their eye primer in here too, since they normally push it with everything, but I'm glad since I have about six in my stash.
Also for eyes we've got the 24/7 Liner in Stag, another shade exclusive for the set. It's a deep brown shade, just a hint off black. It works really well with all the eyeshadows in the palette, and it makes a nice change from black. The formula again is great, smooth and doesn't tug, easy to blend but after a few seconds it sets and doesn't budge.
I was excited to see the travel size of the new Perversion Mascara included, I'd heard good things and was eager to try it. Although it's travel size, it's still a decent size, a third of the full size product. Unfortunately I'm not a massive fan of this, I find that it really doesn't do much for my lashes at all, so I think if I was traveling, I'd switch this out for a different mascara.
And lastly, there's a full size Naked Lip Gloss in Sesso. This is a pretty standard pinky nude shade, my lips but pinker and glossier. I've already got one of these and I love them, they aren't sticky but they're long lasting and comfortable to wear, so this was a welcome addition.
In the pictures above I'm wearing Fix and Resist on my eyes, with a little of Stag on my lash line. I'm wearing all three cheek products, the shade Fix on my brows, the mascara & the lip gloss.
All in all, this is a massive thumbs up from me. I think this would make a great present for any makeup lover, particularly any Urban Decay Junkies! It's a great way to try a lot from the brand too if you're new to it.
