10 Summer Essentials Every Girl Needs

Summer is supposedly here, not that you'd be able tell by the weather, and I'm in full summer content mode! Today I thought I'd round up the 10 essentials (beauty and otherwise) that I can't be without come summer!

- A good deodorant. Because summer is hot and sweaty, and you still want to smell good. I like the Dove Cucumber Go Fresh Deodorant, because it's one of the only ones you can still smell at the end of the day, and it's super fresh!
- The perfect summer fragrance. Preferably something that makes you feel like you're sat back in a deckchair, on a white sandy beach, sipping a strawberry daiquiri. For me that means Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, which if you ask me (and you're here so I'll assume you are asking) smells like coconuts and suncream. One step further, every gal needs a Travalo, so you can take your favourite scent with you on holiday, to the beach, or even at work when you need a bit of summer pep!
- A once-a-day body SPF. Apply whilst nude in the morning to be protected everywhere all day. It's easy to remember SPF when you're on the beach, but we forget that we still need it on a day to day basis anyway! If you're planning on soaking up the sun I'd reapply throughout the day, but otherwise a once a day is a good way to go! My favourites are from P20!
- An easy one-step hair product. Something you can spritz in your hair for beachy, tousled waves. Because it's too hot for styling tools. You heard my rave yesterday on the Bumble and Bumble Surf Infusion, and if you missed it, you can see that here.
- Hair sun protection. SPF for your body is easy to remember but what about your hair? Your hair can be severely damaged by the sun, losing it's colour and becoming brittle. Sun protection sprays are cheap as chips, and you just need to spritz your hair in the morning to be protected. I like this one from Charles Worthington but there's a ton of them in the aisles of Boots!
- A lightweight base. Because nobody wants to be caked in makeup when it's hot. I love the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, it's light on the skin but it provides buildable coverage and a natural, dewy finish.
- A cream highlight. For the most part, my makeup routine doesn't really change all that much for the summer, but the one thing that is introduced is cream highlight. There's nothing quite like the natural glowiness of a cream highlight patted into the cheekbones and browbones. I still haven't found one I like more than Benefit Sunbeam, which just gives a hint of golden sheen to the skin. Even my mum comments when I wear this, and my mum is no makeup lover.
- Flip Flops. Loud and annoying, yes, but comfy, and minimizes foot sweat. A gross but real problem. I have Havaianas, and they were worth the splurge, they're so comfy!
- A big floppy sun hat. When you're as pale as I am, your face needs a little sun respite. I haven't found one that makes my face look good (not a hat person) but it's definitely an essential!
