I'm no bold lip lover, as you'll know if you've been round these parts a while, and usually come summer, everyone is talking about the bold pinks and bright peaches. But they just aren't for me. I've settled into a lip routine of neutrals that can just about pass as summery.
That being said, my first pick is a bit of a cop out, but hear me out on this one. So the colour of the Fresh Sugar Petal Lip Treatment isn't exactly screaming summer time, the formula is just perfect for these warm months. Intensely hydrating, it battles the weird summer dry-lip thing I'm prone to, and it's SPF 15 so it also gives your lips a good dose of protection. It's light and smooth on the lips too, there's nothing worse than thick, cakey lipstick when it's warm!
The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector Balm in 03 is another somewhat, unseasonal choice, but I just adore it. Light and creamy, it imparts just a hint of pretty pink to the lips, leaving you looking not too done, but just done enough. A handbag staple.
This is as bright as things get in these parts folks. This beautiful limited edition NARS X Christopher Kane Lipgloss in Mezmer is what I'd describe as a sheer neon. Shockingly pink in the tube, on the lips it manages to translate the bold colour into something altogether more wearable. I love the staining effect of this gloss too, it means that once the beautiful sheen has worn away, you're still left with that gorgeous colour. It's not drying on the lips, but it's not sticky either, it's firmly in the middle, somewhere comfortable.
And lastly, a more pigmented choice! I would describe the Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Rose as, err, well, not rose. In fact, this definitely pulls more peach with a hint of pink on me, but I like it all the same. The formula of this is a little peculiar, it's thick and heavily pigmented, but applied with a light hand, this stuff is surprisingly comfortable, and very pretty. If you can get past the smell.
