Oh god.
So let me preface this by saying, in my defence, I haven't bought makeup in ages. I'm not sure why but I kinda...fell out of love with buying makeup. I couldn't see any gaps in my collection, there was nothing I felt I needed.
I've clearly changed that way of thinking over the last couple of weeks.
But genuinely, I didn't really buy any makeup throughout the beginning of the year. April was where things got bad for me.
I've bought a few things in the last couple of weeks, both high end and drugstore. I'll show you the drugstore bits tomorrow, so come back then if that's more your thang.
So lets start with the product that sent me into a spending spiral shall we? After much careful consideration (and I mean, I'd been thinking about it for months), I decided to buy the NARS Alhambra Eyeshadow duo. Basically, that pretty champagne pink shade on the left is in my beloved And God Created The Woman Palette, and I use it so much I've hit pan on it. It's my go to shade, I use it to highlight my inner eyes, or all over the lid for a simple eye look. It's my perfect champagne lid colour. And I know that most palettes have a similar shade, but none quite like this. So I decided I deserved a full size. That's okay, right? The shade isn't sold as a single, but it is a part of this duo, and the golden shade next to it is something I know I'll get a ton of wear from too. The formula of these shadows is second to none, buttery soft and intensely pigmented.
After I picked that up in Space NK, I received a £5 N.Centive reward, which just happened to coincide with an email with a £10 off £40 Space NK spend online. Fate, I think, no? I was right at the end of my beloved Diptyque Pomander Candle, and decided that it was the perfect time to reorder that, with the codes and free delivery too, the candle I should have paid £45 for, became £25. Still painful, but my last one of these lasted a year, so I don't feel too bad about it. And it really is my all time favourite candle.
Meanwhile, my dad had headed off to America armed with my VIB Rouge card and a Sephora shopping list. The poor guy didn't do too well, and only managed to find one of the items on my list in stock, the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5 in 1 Styling Creme. I don't think it would be dramatic to say that this cream has changed my life. I disperse a pea sized blob through the ends of damp hair, blow dry and style as normal, and I don't need to use anything else. It gives my hair volume, texture and hold, it makes it look strong and glossy, and it gets rid of flyaways. This stuff is incredible, and I'm already scared I'll run out of it.
Now, I've been in something of an eyeshadow rut the past few months, and just really not feeling any of my eyeshadow palettes. I've been keeping half an eye out for something new and exciting, and I just fell head over heels for the Stila Eyes Are The Window To The Soul Palette, and when Beauty Bay were doing 10% off, it just happened. I'm going to have a full post on this up next week so keep your eyes peeled for that, but essentially, it's love.
My lips have been incredibly dry recently, and I haven't been able to wear lipstick, they're so chapped and sore. I was putting my Dior Lip Glow through the wringer, because I wanted colour and hydration, so I ended up picking up one of the Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in 03 My Pink. This is a super hydrating lip balm, that just melts into the lips, and leaves behind a hint of colour. Perfect for days when your lips are too sore for lipstick but you still want a little colour, or for minimal makeup days.
And lastly, I wanted to mention a few products that I didn't technically buy. I went to the Debenhams press day this week and amongst other things, they gave me a couple of Makeup Forever products to try out. Makeup Forever has previously been tricky to get ahold of here, but they're launching in Debenhams very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. I've been trying out the Artist Plexi Gloss in 209*, a hot pink lip lacquer with incredible staying power, that also looks great pressed into the lips for a hint of tint. They also gave me the Pro Bronze Fusion Compact and the 136 Kabuki brush*, I'm head over heels for the bronzer, it's gorgeous and subtle on the cheeks, perfect for pale girls like me, and the brush is perfect for applying it! I'm so excited to try more from the line!
I'll try and put together a What's On My Face post this week so you can see some of these products in action!
