What's On My Face - The Night Out Look

I know guys. I went out. At night. On purpose. My mum was shocked too.

Since me heading out past six pm is a pretty rare occurrence, I thought I'd better chat you through my makeup picks, who knows how long it'll be before this happens again.

I ended up not having as long to do my hair and makeup for this night as I'd have liked, the time I'd allowed was eaten up by phone calls with the police, and I ended up rushing to get ready in half an hour. Not quite the pamper sesh I'd plan, but these things happen.

I wanted to make sure my makeup stayed put, I knew I wasn't going to be home until after midnight, so I needed longwearing makeup. I primed my skin with the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, my favourite long wearing primer of them all. I then went in with my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation, which is my all time favourite foundation, it smooths my skin out perfectly, and gives a real glowy look to the complexion. I used a rounded buffing brush to really work it into my skin, and built it up in light layers for a good medium coverage. I then went in with my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer under my eyes and around my nose where I'm prone to redness, before setting everything with a light dusting of Chanel Les Beiges Powder.

I then went in with my eyes, I filled in my brows using the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade, the perfect bold brow product. I primed my lids with the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer, and then covered my lids from lashline to brow bone with the shade Kinky, from the Urban Decay Smoked Palette, to create an even base. I then used Primal from the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette to define the crease, taking it slightly higher than I usually would so it would act as a transition shade. Back to the Smoked palette, I then used my finger to pat the shade Evidence, a beautiful shimmery royal blue right across my eyelid, before blending it out with a fluffy brush. This is such a gorgeous shadow, and it really needs minimal effort to make it look beautiful. I took the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion, a matte black along my lashline to define, in my upper waterline, and along the outer third of my lower lash line to really smoke things up. I popped a little of The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter in the inner corners to really make the look pop! Finish with lashings of mascara, I went with the YSL Shocking Volume, which is my favourite for thick, voluminous lashes.

I kept lips and cheeks fairly simple since the eyes were pretty dramatic. I used the Revlon Matte Highlighting Palette in Desert Bronze under my cheekbones and around my temples to add colour, and I used a tiny amount of the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose along my cheekbones to add a hint of glowy colour. I used the Dior Lip Glow to add a hint of colour to my lips, and finished everything off with a few spritzes of the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray!

My makeup held up really well (although my eyeliner did get a little smudgy as I was walking home in the drizzle), and I just loved the eyeshadow! I wish I had more excuses to whack out the Smoked palette, it's amazing!
