The Hunt For The Perfect Blush Brush

The perfect blush brush might just be the most elusive of beauty tools. Need a lash curler? Go to Shu Umera. Want the perfect foundation brush? Look no further than the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. But blush? Well that's a whole other story.

In fact, I'm convinced it doesn't actually exist. Instead, I've assembled an army of four almost perfect brushes, to handle all things cheek related.

The Space NK Contour Brush is my oldest cheek-colour love. With angled natural bristles that aren't too densely packed, this brush blends out product like a dream. It's incredibly soft and it's a good size for multitasking. The only issue is the natural fibres, they can pick up a lot of product, so one for sheerer products and a light hand.

Then came the Real Techniques Bold Metals Blush Brush, the only brush from the Bold Metals collection I actually like. The main reason I love this is because it's so dinky, with a petite rounded head that's slightly tapered, it's perfect for placing product very precisely. The fibres used in the bold metals collection don't pick up much product at all, so it's hard to go overboard with this. The problem? It's not the best for blending, and I often find myself going back in with another brush to blend it out.

I mentioned this eBay dupe of the NARS Yachiyo Kabuki in this post last week, and despite being a recent addition it definitely deserves a mention. Natural bristles and a beautifully tapered, domed head, this brush is fantastic for application and blending. The only problem is, I love the shape for contour, highlight and setting powder, I just can't get my head around it for blush.

And lastly, the Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush which is possibly as close to perfect as we are going to get. Artificial bristles in a gorgeous angled shape, not too densely packed so it blends product beautifully. There's not much wrong with this brush in theory, but I do find it needs a light hand and a lot of work to get this looking perfect. Back to the drawing board.

What's your favourite blush brush? Have you found the perfect one yet?
