Snippets Of Home

I've gotten a lot better in recent months at carrying my DSLR around with me on a day to day basis. I love taking photos, but sometimes I forget to capture the little things that make up my normal, everyday life. With that in mind, I was going through my memory cards, and I wanted to share these photos from my week at home over Easter. They aren't exciting, and they certainly aren't all great, some of these were just taken on my phone, but I want to share what my life looks like in all it's simple beauty!

For the first time in forever, it feels like sunny days might be soon on the horizon. For now, we settle on patches of sunshine, punctuated by gale force winds and hail storms, but it will do. There's something about the impending arrival of Spring that just fills me with excitement and hope, and there's signs of it's arrival everywhere. The blossom on the magnolia trees, the way the light catches new bluebells and daffodils. And yet, there's still something very satisfying about shutting the door, pulling up a blanket, and sipping hot tea by the fire whilst the rain pummels down. It's like we are getting the best of both seasons, just for these few weeks.

Of course, the best thing about being home is hanging out with the menagerie of puppies and kitty's at my house, and Con's parent's place. I never get tired of snapping photos of cute furry faces. Home brings other creature comforts too, leisurely breakfast at our favourite haunts, long hot bubble baths in a bath I didn't have to scrub last Tuesday, and parading around in the same comfy jeans and sweater combo all week.

It's funny, because I go home quite regularly, and yet with every week that passes, something changes. New chairs at my dining room table, a new crop of middle class instances of grafitti, or a change in my parent's schedule that means they're around more. I can't decide whether I like being kept on my toes, or if I find the idea of these changes a little threatening.

Either way, there's nothing that feels quite as good as climbing into my own bed at home. I can't resist my home comforts.
