In honour of the beginning of October, I figured I'd round up my most fall-appropriate lip shades, that are easy to wear. I love the idea of bold berry statement lips, but in reality, I'm pretty scared of them, so if I can wear these shades, so can you!
Let's start with the L'Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss in Smoke Me Up, a weird product in all honesty. This is marketed as a gloss, but it's closer to a liquid lipstick. It applies like a full pigment gloss, but dries down as a long wearing matte lip colour. The shade is a bold pink, but wears with a berry undertone that makes it more autumn appropriate than summer. I'm usually horrified by these shades, but I really love this one.
The newest addition to my team is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned, and it's different to everything else I own. A matte berry with a burgandy undertone, if this doesn't scream Fall I don't know what does. As always with NARS the formula of this is impeccable, and despite being matte, it's not drying at all, but it does last well all day without a problem.
I picked up the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur in duty free at Christmas, and instantly fell head over heels for it. I was almost glad to see the back of summer just to pull this out again. Looking at the bullet I didn't think I'd like this, it looks almost glittery. But on the lips this is a gorgeous sheer wash of berry, it's so easy to wear.
The lightest of them all, MAC Syrup, a purple bullet that turns into a sheer hint of purple on the lips. It's super subtle, and goes with pretty much any makeup look.
And from the barely there, to the definitely there, my go to red for the season is theBalm's Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Devoted. A bold, pillarbox red, this is definitely a statement colour, but once you apply it, it completely dries down and you'll pretty much forget you're wearing anything on your lips at all.
What lipsticks will you be reaching for this season?
