Losing your creative inspiration can happen to the best of us, sometimes because we're stressed, sometimes because we're overworked, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all. When you lose that spark of inspiration, it can seem like you're never going to get it back. And that feeling can make regaining inspiration 1000 times harder.
- Get outside. Getting away from your desk will stop you from searching for inspiration, so it can find you. A little fresh air and time with the great outdoors can give the brain a good reboot, and get you thinking clearly again.
- Write a love list. Sit down with pen and paper, and list all the things that make you happy. I don't know why this works, but it does.
- Laugh. Whether that means watching a movie that makes you laugh, or coffee with a friend who does the same. They say laughter is the best medicine and they are not wrong. Whoever they are.
- Change of scenery. If you work from home, go work in the library. If you set up shop in Starbucks, try out a local independant coffee shop. If you work in an office, get some planning done in a conference room instead. Get out of your rut and into a fresh mindset.
- Replace negative thoughts with positive. One of the best things we can do for ourselves is learn to recognise negative thought process, and shut them down as soon as possible. A happy mindset does wonders for productivity.
- Consume carefully. When we lack inspiration it's easy to start consuming every book, blog, documentary you can get your hands on, but sometimes a content overload does exactly that, and overloads you. A good book, blog or documentary can inspire you, but be careful not to bombard your brain.
- Try something new. An exercise class, a new food, a new look. Change is good for the soul.
- Go somewhere new. A gallery, a tourist destination, a different part of town. Explore.
- Collect inspiration. Go old school and make a moodboard, or embrace your internet addiction and curate the perfect inspirational Pinterest board. Something you can look at when you need a boost.
- Tick off a long standing to do. Organise your desktop, clear out your wardrobe, stock up your freezer with homemade meals. Do something you've been meaning to do for a long time, it'll boost your productivity and normally, your inspiration too.
