It's really easy to get home from work and fall into a slump, feeling like the day is over. Especially with the nights drawing in, it's natural to get home at 6pm and feel like there's nothing left to do but go to bed.
As easy as it is to feel that way, it's just as easy to fall into a mundane routine from Monday to Friday. I'm trying very hard not to do that (I need a little something in my life other than work to live for), so I've been making a list of things that you can do after work, so you don't have to feel like you're living for the weekend.
- Indulge in some pamper time. Because you're worth it. I like to get in, pour myself a glass of wine, run myself a bath (ideally my boyfriend would have done both for me just as I walk in the door, but I'm normally lucky if he looks up from his computer), chuck in a Lush bath bomb and binge watch something on Netflix. When I get out, I like to slather myself in moisturiser, cosy up in fresh pyjamas and my favourite white waffle bath robe, and ideally, eat cake in bed. Perfect evening that.
- Do some online shopping. Because you're worth it. A tricky day at work made better by two hours on Asos treating yo'self.
- Build a fort. Just because you've been a grown up all day at work, doesn't mean you have to be at home. Grab all your blankets and pillows and get cosy, with a book or a Netflix binge and preferably a Domino's too.
- Get outside. I know, I know. But sometimes after a long day at the office, a brisk walk around the park is exactly what you need. Especially when the leaves are starting to turn, I love how they look at this time of year!
- Get cooking. Whether you're baking some treats to pack in your lunch box, or having a full on taco night. A long day at work is made worse by a microwavable meal, don't do it to yourself!
- Grab a friend and have a drink. A post work coffee date, or catch ups and cocktails, depending on what kind of day you've had.
- Work on your passion project. Because it'll get you all fired up for the rest of the week, and make you feel good.
- Work out. Do a yoga class, go for a run or get in the gym. Sweat out your stresses from the day.
