The Photo Album: Sunset Drives

Sometimes, I end up with a little collection of photos that I don't really know what to do with. They don't fit with my Instagram, I don't really do the whole Facebook thing, and they don't really seem like enough for a blog post. But I hate to see these photos just languishing on my computer, so I've decided I'm just going to share them anyway!

Last week when I wasn't very well, we ended up packing an overnight bag and driving back to Bournemouth so I could see my GP. It was a bit of a disastrous trip as the main road into Bournemouth was closed, so instead of taking two hours, it took three and a half. I had hoped that we'd be coming across the forest into Bournemouth as the sun set, so I could stop and take some photos, but due to all the delays and diversions, we ended up sat in traffic cutting through Southampton as one of the most beautiful sunsets ever happened.

The sun came down hard and fast, and the sky was burning bright orange. I did some weird gymnastics move to get my camera from my bag on the back seat, and started snapping away.

Obviously shooting through the dirty windscreen of my car in traffic is less than ideal, but I just had to capture the colours of the skyline.

There's something about a beautiful sunset that makes my heart just sing.

Sunsets seem to be getting earlier and earlier, and yet the heat doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. On this evening, the sun had disappeared before 9pm, but it was still twenty six degrees outside, which is just bonkers for England.

Whilst I love the fiery sunsets that come with summer, I can't wait for cooler nights and crisp autumn leaves.

Fingers crossed that I manage to get my sunset in the forest before the summer's over!
