Preparing for Fall & Autumn Room Updates

It’s now officially autumn, so I can now talk about it as much as I want, and nobody is allowed to get annoyed at me - woohoo!

It might technically be autumn but I still feel like we’re in autumn prep mode - with the last few days of summer still sneaking in here and there, and a definite absence of cool weather.

So I figured I’d share how I’m getting ready for autumn’s arrival, as well as a few little bedroom updates with a skew towards fall!

One of the first things I did was switch up my phone background for this cute Pumpkin one! I found this on Pinterest a few weeks ago and was pretty much counting down till the beginning of September to use it! I look at my phone a hell of a lot, and this gives me the warm and fuzzier every time I see it!

As a beauty junkie by nature, I use the arrival of autumn as an excuse to switch up my makeup. I’m putting away tinted lip balms, warm bronzers and lightweight foundations, in favour of berry lipsticks, mauve-y blushes and more matte base picks. I’ve also retired my beloved Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Perfume, in favour of my Giorgio Armani Si and Diptyque Eau Duelle - heavier scents with warmer undertones.

In my colder weather wishful thinking, I pulled all my cosy blankets out of the wardrobe, gave them a wash in yummy fabric softener, and have piled them up on the end of my bed, ready for action at a moment’s notice! I love that bit of autumn where you can have the window open, the cool fresh air coming in, and be snuggled up under a pile of blankets for warmth! These ones are my absolute favourite, they’re from West Elm + they’re super soft and snuggly.
I also pulled my autumn candles out of hibernation! My favourites are the Bath & Bodyworks 3 wick candles - they just kick off so much scent! I burn Market Peach in the day, and Heirloom Pumpkin + Praline Pecan Cobbler in the evenings! My family like it when I burn these, because not only do they fill the room with scent, it seeps out into the hallway and the rest of the house too!

I also use Autumn’s arrival as an excuse for a bit of a wardrobe cull, not only retiring Summer clothes and pulling out autumn winter layers, but also getting rid of any knitwear that's a bit past it's best, checking tops for weird (food) stains, and saying goodbye to anything that doesn't quite fit any more. Since we've been packing up the flat over the last couple of weeks, it's been the perfect opportunity for this! I've also made a little list of a few key pieces I think would fill the gaps, so I can keep an eye out over the next few weeks.

I've had a streamline of my bedside table too, getting rid of a lot of unnecessary clutter. I now just have a couple of favourite pre-sleep skincare bits, a candle, and the cute celebration squash I picked up at the farmer's market last week! I think it's made a big difference in cultivating an environment that's not only cosy, but also conducive to sleep.

And lastly, my new bedding! I'll admit to having a case of cosy-bed-envy after seeing my wonderful friend Carrie's new autumnal bed set up, so when I found these I was over the moon. They were under £20 from Asda, and I just adore them. They're brushed cotton too, so perfect for snuggling up under on a cold night! Now I just need to find some cushions to match!

Is anyone else as addicted to Autumn, or is it just me!?

How do you get ready for the most wonderful season of all?
