I get a lot of questions about my 'blogging process', from what camera I use, to how I edit my photos, to how I plan my posts, so I thought instead of repeating myself and answering tons of questions, I'd try and cram as much info into one post as possible!
Planning
I switch up notepads fairly regularly because I fill them up really fast, but right now I've got one big notebook that I found in TKMaxx (I'm a big fan of notepads with quotes on), and this is where I make all my blogging related notes. I like this notepad because it has a few different sections with different coloured edges, so I have one for post ideas, one for post planning and one for YouTube things (and a spare section at the back for lists and doodles). I make constant lists of post ideas, and then I'll write any notes about the posts, products to include, and things to photograph, that sort of thing. If I ever lost my notepad I'd probably just spontaneously combust.
I have a full blog plan on good old Microsoft Excel where I keep track of what posts are coming up and what stage they're at, which is insanely useful. It's super simple but it's what keeps me so organised. Producing daily content is really hard, and it's even harder to keep track of what posts you've photographed, and edited, and written, so this keeps me in check. I also use the monthly planner in my Erin Condren Life Planner to keep track of what's going up when, and I also have all my to do lists in here!
Technology
I do the majority of my blogging on my main computer, which is incredibly cool, it's a desktop Mac Pro, but my boyfriend made it for me, so it's a thousand times more powerful than it should be, and it's in a really cool white case with glowing purple parts. Oh the perks of having a computer savvy boyfriend. I also have a Macbook Air that I use when I'm on the go/at Uni/in bed/back in Bournemouth, which is so so handy. I have Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut on both that I use for editing photos and videos, although sometimes I use iMovie for videos because it can be a little simpler. I write most of my posts on pages and then upload them to Squarespace, and I store all my photos on iPhoto! I also use Dropbox to share important files between my desktop and laptop, which is super handy.
On a more daily on the go basis, I use my iPad mini a LOT for blogging. I take all my Uni notes on this so I tend to have it in my bag most days, so if I'm on the tube or waiting for someone (or bored during lectures - don't tell my mum) I like to write blogposts. Squarespace has an amazing app for blogging on the go (much better than Bloggers!) so it's really easy to blog on the go!
Because blogging on the go, and constantly being on social media for my blog really takes the battery out of my iPad and phone, I rarely go anywhere without my portable phone charger. It's this one from Anker, and it holds two full iPhone charges or one iPad charge, so it's pretty handy. It's currently MASSIVELY on sale on Amazon, so if you're after one it's a good time to buy one!
Moving onto photography stuff now, I take 99% of my blogposts using my Canon 550d camera, which is basically the exact same camera as the 600d everyone seems to have, but it's not got the fold out screen (I didn't think I'd need it at the time since I wasn't planning on venturing into YouTube!). It's a fantastic camera that takes amazing photos and it was pretty easy to learn how to use. I have three lenses for it, the standard kit lense, the 50mm lense and the 40mm pancake lense. I take most of my blog photos with the 40mm lense, it just takes the most amazing quality photos, it's perfect for product shots, and also on the go since it's the smallest of the bunch. I tend to take swatches with the kit lense, just because I find that works better! I film on this lense too! I think the 50mm lense takes the best photos of the bunch, but it's a bit too zoomed in for product photos! I use this one mostly for events and taking people of photos. And selfies of course.
It's super handy as well to have a spare battery and memory card, you just never know! I'm like Mary Poppins, always prepared. I also have a Canon wireless remote, for taking What's on my Face photos & filming when nobody's home, it's super handy.
My tripod is a Manfrotto (I'm not sure exactly which kind but it's bloody heavy) that I inherited from my sister after she finished her photography course and decided to take up childcare instead (way more stressful, what on earth was she thinking?!). I never would have spent this much on a tripod but there's no denying the quality of it. I use this mostly for filming, but it's handy if you're taking a ton of blog photos in one go!
And sidenote, I'd get no blogging work done without my glasses. They're from the Specsavers Osiris range* and they're super comfortable and cute looking too.
I think that's everything! If you have any questions at all just leave them in the comments!
