The original Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette never really caught my eye, I felt like the colours were a bit meh, and the sort of thing that you would still require another palette to create a good eye look. Also, I already had two of the shades in other palettes, so it seemed kind of redundant to me. However, when Urban Decay announced their Naked Basics 2 Palette? Well that caught my attention.
I'm not sure what it is about these shades but they all just seem so much more wearable? The first shade, Skimp, has a faint vein of shimmer, but the rest are all matte. The quality is exactly what you would expect from Urban Decay, super soft, easy to blend and intensely pigmented. It's a much cooler toned palette than it's older sister, with more grey and taupe shades, which is much more up my alley. The combination of shades means you have everything you need to create a natural looking smokey eye, highlight, all over lid colour, crease colours, a dark shade you can use as a liner or in the crease, hell I can even fill in my brows with this palette. It's really versatile and definitely worth investing in.
It's not the sort of thing I think you need if you already have the original basics, and if you're trying to decide which one you want, I think it comes down to whether you prefer warm or cool toned shadows. This is definitely the one for me, and I'm so happy to have it in my possession!
Do you prefer the original Basics palette or Basics 2?
