There's the world's least snappy title right there. Sorry about that. ANYWAY. Today the beauty topic of discussion is autumn lipsticks, in particular the kind that aren't bold. I've noticed that a lot of bloggers have uploaded 'autumn lipstick' posts, and they're all scary bold colours, and vampy shades. Well, I'm terrified of those colours, and I'm sure I'm not alone, so if you're like me and purple lips aren't your thang, keep reading.
Let's start with a fairly obvious pick, MAC Lustre Lipstick in Plumful. A pretty plum berry shade, but the lustre finish means it's fairly sheer, more of a pink with a hint of berry. Super comfortable even on dry lips, and really easy to wear, even with dramatic eye makeup. A good autumnal staple.
Moving on to my favourite autumn nude, the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked. A brown toned nude which is just warm enough and peachy enough to not wash out my ghostly complexion. The formula of these is just the best, rich and creamy pigmented, not matte but not glossy either. An all round winner for everyday.
A glossy option for any of you gloss lovers out there, the Buxom Full Bodied Lip Gloss in Sha-Bang, a bright pink with purple undertones and a hint of shimmer. This stuff applies slightly sheer on the lips, but definitely imparts a punch of berry, whilst making your lips look bigger than they are. I like this on it's own, but it also looks great layered over Plumful.
My current favourite everyday shade, the Soap and Glory Super-Colour Fabu Lipstick in The Missing Pink. A pretty dusky pink, my lips but just a bit cooler, this stuff gives a non-drying matte finish, and lasts all day. I'm totally in love with this right now.
And lastly, a bit of an unusual shade, the Mac Amplified Lipstick in Brick-O-La. A mid-toned berry shade with definite terracotta undertones, this just looks a little different on the lips. Berry with a little somthing-something. I like.
