5 Things: The Best Palettes for Smokey Eyes

Smokey eyes aren't all that easy, but a good palette is half the battle (the other half is blending). I'm a big fan of the smokey eye, and I've got an arsenal of the best palettes to help me. I've narrowed it down to five of the best to share with you guys.

The Classic Option: Could I mention anything here other than the original Urban Decay Naked Palette? This has everything you could possibly need to create a warm smokey eye, shimmery highlights, rich bronzes, matte crease shades and dark shades you can use for liner. The formulas are soft and smooth, easy to blend and richly pigmented. A winner, and a staple in every collection.

The Everyday Option: I had to mention the NARS And God Created the Woman palette here, this is my day to day go to. I love the shimmering champagnes, the pretty taupes and the rich chocolate colours. I can't fault NARS formulas, they're just so smooth. This is my go to, and I wouldn't be without it.

The Colour Option: Sometimes the mood strikes, and colour is the name of the game, and for that I reach for the Urban Decay Smoked Palette which houses some of the most beautiful jewel toned shadows you've ever seen. What I like about this palette is that it has the bright, colourful shades, but it's also got the other things you need, a matte brown for the crease, a highlight and a matte black to line. Although I don't use it that often, this is a favourite of mine.

The Budget Option: A product I don't mention regularly fits the bill here, the Wet and Wild The Naked Truth Palette. I honestly think that Wet and Wild shadows are fantastic, especially when you consider the price. This palette is super compact for a five shade offering, and offers every shade you need for a brown smokey look for under $5.

The Travel Option: This award goes to the Lorac Pocket Pro Palette, which contains the three (in my opinion) best shades from the classic Lorac Pro Palette. Nude, a perfect shimmery highlight, Pewter, a gorgeous bronzey taupe shimmer & Espresso, a dark matte brown for the crease and defining. I'm obsessed with this palette, it's just gorgeous!
