December 2014 Favourites

I've gotten into the habit over the last few months of filming my monthly favourites, but since I just uploaded my favourites for the whole of 2014 (you can watch that here if you missed it), I figured I'd have a favourites-video rest, and go back to basics.

I've got a ramshackle collection of items for you today! I can kinda split my products into categories this month, stuff I loved before I went on holiday, stuff I loved after, and two things I loved all month! I always feel like this on months when I travel, it's so weird.

Let's start with the product I've been loving the longest! My sister came to visit the last weekend of November, and after a splurge in Victoria's Secret, she produced a bottle of Victoria's Secret Warm Ginger Body Spray for me. What a doll. This stuff literally makes me want to eat my own skin, it smells like ginger biscuits straight from the oven. Apparently it's ginger and coconut, and sometimes I can get a waft of coconut, but mostly it's biscuit. I've never wanted to smell like a biscuit before, but right now, it's working for me.

Something that's been on my hit list for as long as I can remember is a full sized Tangle Teezer. I've had the compact one since it came out, and I love it, but for some reason I never invested in a full sized one. A few months back I saw a picture of this lilac and baby pink one and set my heart on it, but I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. I searched online for hours, I raided every Boots and Superdrug I passed but nada. I finally stumbled across one in an obscure Boots at the beginning of the month and picked it up without hesitation. Well. I can tell you with absolute certainty that this has changed my entire hair brushing experience. It's easier and I'm sure my hair feels softer for it! I won't be without this bad boy now.

On the same Boots trip I finally picked up the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Instant Brighten and Blur Concealer stick. I wasn't expecting much, which was silly considering my GIANT love affair with Soap and Glory, and was pleasantly surprised. This is a fantastic do it all concealer, it's great for redness, blemishes and undereyes. It's lightweight, creamy and easy to apply, just draw it on and blend with a finger, and it sets and is pretty longwearing. I've used a good portion of this already, it's a really awesome product, especially considering the £6 price tag!

I got the beautiful Urban Decay Naked on the Run Palette back in November and basically used nothing else right up until I left for my holiday. I think part of the appeal was having everything I need for a face of makeup right in front of me, without having to think about it! It's a great product to reach for when you're feeling lazy! I was a little concerned that the bronzer shade would be too orange and the blush too bright but they're pretty damn perfect everyday picks and I freaking love them (and I love applying them with the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Cheek Brush). The eyeshadows are soft and buttery, and great shades for everyday, I particularly love the shade Fix, the matte light brown on the left of the palette, it's a perfect transition shade for the crease. I knew the gloss would be a winner, since I fell in love with one of these at the beginning of last year, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the eyeliner, I'm not normally one to wear pencil liner on the lash line, but I sported this pretty much every day. For any Urban Decay lovers, I'd recommend picking this up!

In duty free I picked up the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Bonheur, after seeing Fleur de Force rock it when I met her. Chanel lipsticks just really get the job done, the formula is gorgeous, sheer and light but longlasting, with a pretty glossy finish. This shade looks dark in the bullet, but it just imparts a perfect pinky-berry stain to the lips. A gorgeous lipstick for when you don't want a nude, but you don't want anything dramatic either. Pricey, but worth every penny.

And lastly I wanted to mention the Space NK Shimmering Spice Candle, which I picked up on a whim in Space NK before Christmas. I'm so glad I did, not only does this have the most beautiful jar, it smells incredible, and has an impressive scent throw to boot. I'm a big lover of spiced festive scents all year round, but this is definitely the perfect winter candle!
