The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed there was no new post yesterday, I can only apologise and say I'm snowed under with my dissertation hand in so close! It'll all be over soon, thank god!
This feature is back by popular demand (i.e., Tami said she liked it)! Today I'm rounding up five products I think are worth parting with your pennies for this month!
Let's dive straight in, and start with haircare. I've talked about the Lush Shampoo Bars before here, but last month I picked up the Honey I Washed My Hair bar and oh man is it love. It smells incredibly delicious, like, I wish it came in candle form, of honey and orange and toffee. It's jam packed full of downright lovely ingredients, and is designed to add softness and shine to your locks. I can confirm it does both of the above, without making hair feel slippy, it's still easy to style and maintains volume (hurrah!). I also find that my hair lasts longer between washes than it did previously, which is a pleasant surprise! These shampoo bars always last forever and a day too, so they're worth investing in! So handy for travel too!
I've been keeping this one a secret for a while, but I figured I'd better let you guys in on it. I'm head over heels for the Laura Mercier Smoky Suede Eye Colour Palette*. I actually got this from Urban Retreat, which has an amazing 'beautique', stocking lots of my favourite beauty buys, but it's sold out there now. Still well worth having a peruse of the site, there's a lot of good stuff there! You can still pick it up in Sephora and Space NK though, and it's really lovely. The shadows are all taupey toned, which is right up my street, and the formula is different to anything else I've tried. The shadows are creamy to the touch, and easy to apply and blend with your fingers, but they dry as a powder! Long lasting and gorgeous, these are so easy to apply and work with. AND the brush that comes with it is good. Amazing. A real gem of a palette.
I picked up a new MAC lipstick in February, a rare occasion for me these days. It's from the Mineralize range, in the shade Elegant Accent. I only have one other lipstick from this range, but I love the formulation so much. They are intensely nourishing, slightly creamy feeling on the lips, with a gorgeous sheer colour pay off, making the bright shades in the bullet much less scary. This shade is a warm rose, perfect for Spring! If this shade doesn't pique your interest, check out the rest of the line, this formula is definitely worth adding to your collection.
Over the last month I've been using the L'Oreal Brow Artiste Pencil to tame my brows, a welcome surprise in my February My Little Box. Unlike most of the drugstore pencils I've tried, this isn't warm toned, or overly pigmented, it's just natural looking. There's a coloured pencil on one end and a wax pencil on the other for holding everything in place, as well as a lid with a handy brush too. It's got everything you could need for bold or barely there brows, and it comes in at under £6. Bargain.
And finally, let's talk powder. I've been trialling the Maybelline The Matte Maker Powder, and I really like it! It gives a lot more coverage than any other drugstore powder I've tried, but it definitely doesn't make your skin look cakey. Perfect for taking away shine from dewy spring bases, without compromising on glow.
What will you be splurging on this month?
