Last month the lovely ladies over at Debenhams got in touch and asked if I wanted to get involved with their Makeup On The Go campaign. As someone who is always doing their makeup in a hurry in the car, or on the tube, I said yes.
So they sent me out some products to try, and to really put them to the test, I chucked them all in a makeup bag, and took them with me on the go. I had a mad morning rush to get to a meeting, with no time to spare before rush hour, so I put my face on in the car park five minutes before, praying that the products worked out well and I didn't go in looking mental!
Step number one, adding some brightness into my skin! I struggle with dark under eye circles, so I took this in big triangles under my eyes, and patted it in using my fingers. The brush applicator made it really easy to apply precisely, and the colour really added some brightness, and made me look healthier & more awake! I actually love the consistency of this, it's made it's way into my daily makeup bag!
Instead of faffing around with liquid foundation on the go, a high-coverage powder foundation is much more practical. The MAC Studio Fix Foundation is exactly that, a handy on-the-go compact with an easy to apply powder that offers just as much coverage as a liquid would. The finish is slightly matte but natural, your skin but better! I wouldn't normally apply this with a sponge, but the sponge contained in the compact is perfect for on the go!
Faffing with powder cheek products and brushes is hardly ideal when you're in transit, so a cream blush is a great idea. The YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush in 08 is a fantastic option, with a built in doe foot applicator and moussey consistency, it's so easy to apply. I simply dotted this onto my cheeks and blended it in with my fingertips, job done! The shade is beautiful too, a natural flush of pink (and if you wanted, you could use this as your lip colour too!).
Eyeshadow on the go isn't an ideal situation, so going with an eyeliner is a much easier option. Something like the Bare Minerals Lasting Line Long Wearing Eyeliner in Eternal Bronze is a versatile, but easy to apply option. I took this in a thick, messy line across my upper lash line, and then used the smudger on the other end to blend it out, just to give some smokey definition. This is a twist up pencil too, so no need to worry about sharpeners!
Most mascaras will do the job on the go, but the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara does the job of a mascara, and a lash curler all in one. It lifts and lengthens the lashes, really opening up the eyes and giving the illusion of big, doll eyed lashes! It's a one coat wonder too, no need for coat after coat.
And lastly lips! The Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Peony ticks all the boxes. An intensely pigmented, long wearing lipstick in liquid form, with a built in applicator, it's so easy to apply and you won't have to worry about reapplying throughout the day!
And that's it! An easy to apply face, in under five minutes! Now there's an excuse to save getting ready til the last minute!
