Transitional Makeup

Autumn officially hits on Wednesday, which means you've got a mere five days left to enjoy this, errr, great British summer we're having. However, since we seem to be entering an awkward transitional territory (read: eighteen degrees but raining cats and dogs), I've been getting into the autumnal spirit early.

Whilst I'm not quite ready to rock a dark berry lip and smokey eye just yet, I've been shaking up my makeup bag to include a few more transitional products.

Starting with base, I've been wearing a different kind of base, less long-wearing and matte, more natural finish and good coverage. Most recently, I've been giving NARS Sheer Glow a go, buildable coverage with a not-too-dewy, but natural finish, and so far I like it. I have the shade Deauville and it's a near perfect colour match for my current skin tone!

Whilst I've mostly been doing a similar sort of thing with my eye makeup, I've added two little steps that I think have made the world of difference. In the summer, I tend to keep eye makeup really simple and light, no faff, just one colour across the lid. Whilst for the most part I've still been doing just that, I've also started patting a little of theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer onto the inner corners of my eye, and taking the Bare Minerals Lasting Line in Eternal Bronze across the outer corner of my lower lashline. These super simple steps are doing wonders for making my eyes look brighter and more defined, and it's a nice easy way to ease yourself into a bolder eye look.

I've been stepping up the bronzing game too, as my holiday tan is beginning to fade. I've fallen in love with theBalm's Bahama Mama Bronzer, it's a gorgeous matte shade that can be taken under the cheekbones and around the perimeter of the face to add colour and definition. It's incredibly easy to blend and looks natural on the skin too.

Whilst I might not be quite ready for full-on vampy lip shades, I am ready for a little something something more striking than my usual peachy pink. I recently picked up the L'Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss in 407 Smoke Me Up, a dark matte pink shade that just looks awesome. This is somewhere between a lip gloss and liquid lipstick, it's got intense glossy colour, but after an hour or so it dries down to a matte shade that won't budge. At £6.99 it's a budget friendly way to transition your makeup bag into Fall!

I'm mostly excited for colder weather so I can start wearing my beloved Diptyque Eau Duelle perfume again, the woody, vanilla fragrance just screams autumn to me!

How are you prepping your makeup bag for autumn?
