Until recently I was pretty much terrified of berry lip colours. I was strictly a nude lip kinda gal, because it's safe, and much easier to pull off. I was always scared that bolder lip shades emphasised my dark circles, but after much assurance that they don't, I seem to have fallen head first down a berry lip rabbit hole, and I don't see myself surfacing any time soon.
So here's a round up of some current favourites (since I took these photos a week ago I have a few others to share at a later date!), complete with lip swatches. Prepare to see a lot of my face.
Essence Lip Liner in Honey Berry: Definitely a pinky toned option, and the most budget friendly of this line up! The Essence lip liners are the kind of lip product you can apply and forget about, because they need no maintenance at all - my kinda jam. I love this one with a bold winged liner.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Plum Plum Girl: Another product you can apply and forget about. The texture of these liquid lipsticks is quite strange, it almost feels moussey, but once you apply it, it sets down and stays put. In this photo it seems to pull quite pink but it's less bright in real life. I love how comfortable this is, I tend to forget I'm wearing it!
Rimmel The Only One Lipstick in One of a Kind: The most red of the bunch and a surprising love of mine. This is like a slightly darker, glossier version of Russian Red. Despite being a more hydrating formula, this is still long lasting, and it's a comfortable choice, for when you've been wearing one too many matte lipsticks.
Revlon Colourstay Moisture Stain in Parisian Passion: Now this pick can be a little tricky, it takes some careful application to create an even finish, but it's worth perservering. I have dreams of wearing this with flawless skin and minimal makeup, and my hair tucked into a giant scarf.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned: Probably the most easy to wear shade in this line up. This is kind of a softer take on a berry lip, and despite being matte, it's comfortable and not drying at all. A favourite.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Love Liberty: This one is just love love love. Creamy and richly pigmented, this is just dreamy. Definitely a more luxurious option, but a lovely one nonetheless.
