So we're taking a little break from the weekly 'drugstore dupe' posts for a while, and switching over to what I'm going to call 'the drugstore edit'. I thought it would be nice to have a weekly slot to talk about some of the drugstore products I love. I'm aware that I talk about a lot of high end products here, so I thought it would be good to make sure that at least once a week we are talking about affordable, "I can pick this up on my lunch break and not feel guilty" products.
I've had two of the Tanya Burr Lipglosses for over a month now, and if I'm completely honest, I didn't really have high expectations for them. I never used to be much of a lipgloss person, but they are starting to grow on me. Heading into the warmer months (hopefully) I tend to prefer a glossier lip, but I'm pretty fussy, I don't like anything to be sticky, and I don't see the point in applying a lipgloss if it will have disappeared within the hour. Also I had the feeling that this line was going to be really gimmicky, and not actually that good, but I take it all back.
Now I'm not massively keen on the packaging of this product, I feel like it looks a bit young, it reminds me of those cheap lipglosses that came free with magazines before you hit your teens, and the scent is definitely reminiscent of that too, a very cheap strawberry scent. The applicator could do with having a bit more bend to it, it's a bit weird applying gloss with a flat, hard applicator, but this is all packaging grumbles really.
As for the product? I couldn't be more pleased. These glosses are lovely, they aren't sticky at all, but they almost set onto your lips, meaning they last really well. I got the shade Picnic in the Park, a bright pink, and Aurora a rosier pink. They look great layered over lipstick but I'm impressed with how they look alone too, they are really pigmented so you can definitely see the colour, unlike some glosses that seem to just add a gloss and no colour.
Have you tried any of the Tanya Burr Lipglosses? What are your favourite drugstore lip products?
