The Spring Makeup Shakeup

Ahh pretty Spring colours. I mentioned in yesterdays post that I had a good shakeup of my makeup collection, and instead of just storing things, I've started storing them with purpose, products to use up, products to use more often, and two drawers to devote spring beauty picks. I tried to fill these drawers with bright, happy spring colours, stuff to make my skin look light and glowier, perfect for spring! I also tried to include much loved products, as well as some that have been a little neglected in my stash.

So in the first drawer, I've put my current favourite light foundation, the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, which is perfect for spring, it's light so you barely feel like you're wearing foundation, but also it gives a good medium coverage. It makes my skin look really natural, it doesn't have an overly matte or dewy finish, it's just natural! I also picked out a powder to go with it, and that's the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade, which is very similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Dim Light, it makes a great brightening setting powder, that diffuses the look of pores and imperfection, whilst adding a glow to the skin.

For the cheeks, two cheek products, the Creme Blush de Chanel in Intonation, a gorgeous mousse to powder formula cream blush in a striking coral shade, definitely one of my more daring blush purchases, but it's actually incredibly flattering on. The other is the Bobbi Brown Apricot Blush, a gorgeous bright pink with an infallible formula, it's lasting power is like no other.

I'm currently obsessed with the Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colours, perfectly suited for spring are the shades Pink Flush, a limited edition shade that's a beautiful bright baby pink, and Rosy, a really pretty bright pink with coral undertones. Also making the cut are the MAC Lipstick in Betty Bright, and Benefit Posie Tint. Betty Bright is a bright peach pink, with a near-matte finish, which is beautiful, but quite bold and I haven't quite figured out how best to wear it. Posie Tint is a really pretty rosy pink, which is perfect for long spring days, since it stains the lips making wear time great.

In the second drawer, I've put two lip crayons. The first is the Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive, a beautiful matte pinky nude, that's just got enough pop to brighten the face. The other is a little out of my comfort zone, the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Orange Punch, it looks like a bright orange, but when applied to the lips it's more of a sheer peach.

I included one gloss in these drawers, but there were so many I could have included (a handful of Benefit shades, the Urban Decay Naked gloss in Streak, the new Tanya Burr glosses...) but I picked out this one for now, the Benefit Coralista Gloss, as well as the Coralista Blush. These two make for a really easy, go to look, the gloss isn't sticky and the blush lasts well, and they are both beautiful coral shimmer shades.

I also included two highlighters. I've been a little lax over highlighter the last few months (silly really, since winter is the time when my skin needs the most help looking glowy),
if I have used it it's mostly just been a swipe of the highlighting
shade included in the NARS One Night Stand Palette. When the sun comes
out, I like to reach for more golden shades, they add a bit more of a
sunkissed glow, but still look natural if you pick the right formula.
The two I picked out are both from Benefit, Sunbeam and Watts Up.
I like both and they are pretty similar, but I do find Sunbeam lasts
better on the skin, but Watts Up looks better under the browbone! I'd
like to play with Watts Up a bit more anyway, since I've only used it a
few times since I bought it.

Two other blushes, one cream and one powder. The Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon, a blush that has been pretty neglected since the summer months, but I have a lot of love for. It's a beautiful dusky pink shade, unlike anything else in my collection, but the formula means it looks really radiant on my skin. And of course, my beloved NARS Day Dream blush made the cut, a shimmery baby pink shade that makes my heart race in a way that assures me I have an unhealthy relationship with makeup.

There are a lot of other products that could have made the cut here, but I plan on rotating them in the next few weeks! What are your favourite spring products?
