It's about this time of year that I have a switch up in the old mooje, and replace higher coverage bases with products that are virtually undetectable on the skin. There's something about the arrival of May that makes me want to reach for bases that just even the complexion slightly, and pair them with a good concealer where I need it.
With that in mind, it made sense to round up my pick of the bunch for you. Lightweight bases can be something of a minefield, it's hard to know what's good and what will just leave a weird orange tint to your skin.
For Everyday - The Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream is my current daily pick. Seriously light on the skin, but still enough to cover any redness, this just evens out the complexion a treat. It's not the most long lasting, but with a primer or a setting powder, you're set.
For Home Days - When you're staying at home but you still want to feel a little put together, the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser is your go to. This is the essence of what a tinted moisturiser should be, it's literally, a hydrating layer with a hint of colour. Just enough to reduce redness and even the complexion a little, this stuff doesn't feel like makeup at all.
For Evenings - There's something about the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser that I can't put my finger on. It packs a lot of punch in the coverage department, and yet it feels light and comfortable on the skin. It's not got a dewy finish, but there's a good glow to it, and the shade range matches me perfectly! This stuff is quite addictive.
For Holidays - If I'm lying on a sunbed, I'm packing the No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream. This is a seriously underated product, similar to the Laura Mercier in terms of finish, but with a hint more coverage, SPF and it's pretty much sweat and pool proof.
For Everything - And the best all rounder has to go to the Diorskin Nude BB Creme. Light on the skin, it doesn't feel like you're wearing foundation, but it still gives good coverage, and can be easily applied with your fingers for a flawless finish.
